Lordamax Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 (edited) ..speaking of that topic...i have a story.. me and my friends used to play on a RO private server around 2010. It was a high rate server.. it was a good server! No Lag.. Helpful GM's... also friendly ! in the first 2 weeks when were playing on that server when I entered the PVP Arena. My character there is Champ! and then a wizard hit me Level 10 Soul Strike with a damage of 4k each! lol ! so i did nevermind about that.. 4 weeks later when we discovered that 1 of the GM's there has a normal account(s) and putting unbalanced BS there. So we just uninstalled their client and play Super Mario xD Edited February 18, 2012 by Fibonacci 3 Quote

Mystery Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 ^ Lol. iRO has over 1000+ players playing, with no automated random events. I think in Private Servers we're a little spoiled when it comes to events. 2 Quote
ShiJu Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 For me, when a server becomes boring. Or when sh*t happens. Quote
mrjnumber1 Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 drama whore staff (shows immaturity) incompetent staff (both technically and game-knowledge wise) stupid donations/customs (anything from big and ugly gears to stupid gears that give crap like stats+20) low population (usually a sign of bad economy and woe; plus, i don't want to play alone) inactive staff (no updates) harmony (because i can't play from my uni) bad woe (tends to follow everything else i posted, but mostly it means our investment into the server is meaningless) Quote
MxR Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 i just found this topic from authors siggy. ok heres what i hate * no updates * not multi-language community, racial affairs. * corruption includes feeding, favoritsm * over powered donation item when dedicated but cant afford players effort become futile with just 20$ donation thats a crap. * staff inactiveness or maybe they are busy playin * drama when i cant take it anymore * strict rules im a player before i made my own server. and from the previous server that i played and quit with, i bundled those things i hate and learn from them when developing a server worth playing. Davey Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Why you left from a private server? Jman took down his server, so..... after that I couldn't find a private server where I was able to beat a *cough* WiK Bish! *;..;* RAWR-!! 2 Quote
anacondaq Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 sorry for my real bad english I play RO more than 6 years... 4 years i play on many different russian servers, and last 2 years i play on phil\usa, etc around the world servers. What a main problem of servers, and why they die (i mean why online come from server?). 1.) Main problem it's GM's! When i did't see GM online i am happy. Why? Because by 6 years experience, i know 95% of theys corrupt! Thats MAIN PROBLEM OF ALL SERVERS! 2.) Imbalance items! What some? as like i play on some very good server (hello Jeffrey) server was be great! really! no custom and etc. GM done all server\client side. only what players must to do - PLAY! nothing more! GM thing "i do small work, need more" and add REALLY IMBA ITEMS as like 90% neutral reduce, or 120% reflect magic spell. sure, after that ~ 70% online go to other servers, beacause only 5 players was can rule in arena, etc 60 peoples cannot. 3.) LAGs! But thats not big problem if is "long distance from server", if server good lags not problem, (i use socks proxy, or sock's proxy services (hello wowping.ru, myfreedom); But when server LAG! thats is imba bad!; 4.) I hate "very defenced servers". as like harmony + some etc defence shield? Why? it's easy - because sometimes you find server for rest, not for mobbing, looting etc. and very good servers, where "allowed" botting (but in normal ".....", no as like 24\7\31\365 hunting). 5.) I hate communityes, and not friendly servers! as like when i start to play on "world" servers, (before that i play only on servers (russian)) i was dont know english (now i dont know english too) i was "unhappy" when i ask "guys, please, help me, show me where's JOB CHANGER??" and they start trashtalk to me. BEST SERVER, where GM create AROUND HIM AND HIS SERVER GREAT HELPFUL COMMUNITY, VERY KIND, AND STRONG IN PVP\WOE; 6.) Children GM's or SchoolGM's 7.) Donate orientired server. 8.) No updates! Quote
Meister Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 ^Not all private server can afford to buy gameguard EVEN though they have the money because they spend "THEIR?" money for their own good. 1. Imbalanced Items 2. Lag! 3. No Updates! 4. Staffs doesn't care anymore about their server. 5. Lots of favoritism 6. Keep promising ;( Quote
malufett Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 First and the most reason I have... BORING - like what ShiJu said.. Quote
Tyrant64 Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 (edited) I stay with dedicated private servers mostly because of the investment security. If I play on a private server, I support it. It's only right. When I see the economy of a large/medium sized private server start to wobble, or crash, I begin looking for a new home. (As I am now.) After economic imbalances, you will usually notice 1 or 2 guilds begin to run the server, due to the recent economic fluctuations. Kind of like the great depression. Also, when a server has staff members that are constantly corrupt/unprofessional, I think twice about the viability of long-term play on said server. Other things that can influence me are: Server community - all servers have the nice guys, and the means ones.. but when nothing is done about flaming/harassment, it shows a lack of dedication to player environments. Update frequency: I understand when an Admin goes out of town, or there is no update for a month. But when it goes beyond that, it implies the server staff has lost enthusiasm. That's never a good sign. Edited May 29, 2012 by Tyrant64 Quote
Hobgeek Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 ~ Unfriendly community ~ Unprofessional GMs ~ No GM support ~ Unbalanced Custom Equips ~ Low Population ~ Server full of custom hat & wing quests (I didn't play RO just to make hats that look cool. ) ~ Adding DOTA items on their servers (I should have just play DOTA in the first place.. ) ~ Half the population is merchants in autotrade mode (Probably, there's a cheat in here.. ADMIN Tricks.. ) Quote
