rAthena Community Chat
Connect Now - No download or registration required
'Discordapp' is more or less your standard gaming text/voice chat application; it has the works. The difference between it and Skype, is it's clean and responsive feel. Where Skype is sluggish, Discordapp is always buttery smooth. Discordapp can be accessed from your browser with no registration or download required. The service is free and allows 1,000 concurrent users on a single server, so running out of room should never be a problem.
As it is set up now, there are three text channels, General, Filipino, and Support as well as two voice channels, English and Filipino. I know a lot of people feel bogged down by a plethora of chat services they are already expected to use, but I think if rAthena makes a commitment to come together on this platform, we could have an excellent service for helping each other out or simply hanging out!
The goal is to have a constant stream of people available to help with questions, big or small. That being said...
In an effort to keep the rAthena website relevant while still offering this chat service, we'd need to make sure that we post our questions under the relevant support forums, and as mentors, post our solutions there as well, thus allowing for future users to find answers easily.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is discordapp?
From their website - "All-in-one voice and text chat for gamers that's free, secure, and works on both your desktop and phone. Stop paying for TeamSpeak servers and hassling with Skype. Simplify your life." No download is required as discordapp is entirely capable of running through your browser.
Who can help?
Everyone is encouraged to contribute in any way they can. Helping with large or small requests, it's all welcome.
How do I get help?
Please post your question in the appropriate sub-forum. Once you've posted, join the chat and link your thread in the 'support' chat. Chat may be slow at times but someone is sure to be with you quicker than (or at least as fast as the) forums.
Rules/Tips
In an effort to hold some standard of ethics and integrity in the chat, I think some rules should exist more officially. I'll be a little less formal about this, but here's the quick and dirty of it, we follow the motto:
"If it doesn't belong (or you wouldn't post it) in rAthena general, it doesn't belong here."
Create topics in the appropriate forum before being linked in chat (!help)
Seek help after related articles have been read. Please encourage users to read relevant wiki articles and forum posts (!read)
After being helped in chat, associated forum posts should be answered/explained and marked solved (!solved)
Keep language light in #General and constructive/relevant in #Support. No off-topic in the support channel.
English in #General and #Support channels.
I don't want to police-state the chat, so just use your head and follow rAthena's guidelines and you should be fine.
EDIT: This has turned out to be an excellent way to meet and interact with other rA users. It's not strictly about help. Feel free to join and hang out or just sit quietly until you have something to share!
This is a community effort. Please help us all.
Thanks to Nova for showing me the service.
