Brian Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Before we get to far.. should we use IPB 3.1 (currently what you see here) or IPB 3.2.2 (the latest version)? Here's an example if you haven't seen what IPB 3.2 looks like: IPB 3.1 = (this board) IPB 3.2.2 = http://eathena.sourceforge.net/ipb322/ I didn't like 3.2.2 because it felt a little sluggish - Live Search in the ACP loads slower.. XD - click Sign In -> AJAX window and Chrome doesn't autocomplete the fields (not sure about other browsers)
Mercurial Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 id say we keep updated as much as possible , it avoids a possible securty exploit infection, the newer the harder to ffind an exploit, its rare but can happen, just my opinion and it loads fine for me have a good day man
Z3R0 Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Agreed. Up to date, unless it breaks... Often times, you may see a tad bit of performance issue when it comes to increased security, but I'm sure we all understand that it's always a toss up..
Z3R0 Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I kinda agree with jguy on this one... the look feel (roundness) of this theme makes that one look over the top professional, which can be a good / bad thing
Brian Posted November 10, 2011 Author Posted November 10, 2011 Are there any that look like this current theme? I like the IP.Board 3.1 skin XD
Lemongrass Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 I am also in favor of staying up to date, because in most cases ipb updates are because of security or bug fixes. And nowadays this is something that shouldnt be left aside.
Emistry Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 i would love to choose it if there have a better User Interface .. however, i feel that the current one is quite good already ^^ at least i think so...
lekkereten Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Staying up-to-date is better, they've made a lot of improvements, fixes. I know, the skin sucks, but we can get used to it.
Mystery Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 Although 3.2 is updated, I've hosted my forums with IPB 3.2 and the ACP is very slow and I feel it's unorganized. As for player view, I don't feel like it's organized properly either.. =/ As for 3.1, I like how the ACP is set up, more organized, and so is the Player View.

When I was testing to see if SourceForge's project web hosting could support IPB, I installed both 3.1 (this forum) and 3.2.2 (here). Both work on SF's hosting, but I came to the same conclusions you did and I prefer 3.1 too.
Z3R0 Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 well, perhaps we stay on 3.1 maybe 3.3 will be better than 3.2? Just BE Postively sure that whatever leaks 3.2 fixed, aren't documented anywhere as far as "how to bypass"
Triper Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 If the problems[as in security issues] don't happen in this version [or there are fixes to implement that fix them] I would say to keep this one since the look is far better then newest version although a theme can always be applied to the new version and make it look better or like this one.
vBrenth Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Yep there's an exploit in 3.1.* talked to brianL about that, and finally he upgraded it! looks like awesome <3
Mercurial Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 the new forum skin is fucking awesome , thank you very much, time to put some usefull stuff here
vBrenth Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Yeah, super awesome sooner were going to have downloads and bug tracker !
