  1. As expected of the great Olrox.

I naturally have a penchant for pirates, of course I'd love this map. Thanks for the eye-candy !  /no1

    Thanks for your feedback >P

Hey this map looks really good Olrox!  What effects are you using IN the lamps?  Those are cute, really brings those lamps to life!

Thank you, those are comodo beach lights, #156 if I'm not mistaken!

I hate you Olrox ¬¬ Awesome map .-.

.And I hate youtube rendering xD made the video looks -desatured- and in low contrast as how it is in game.

    1. Concept

Hi :) I did some time to show some work I did :P I'm sure some people were wondering where I was? well, very busy xD but alive and healthy, which counts :D

The sketch. The idea was to create a recreational area for parties, inspired as a pirate area in the past, but reworked as a recreational area for parties, this map is going to be used as an event of an end-season of Summer of this server. The map has multiple areas like: a place for drinks, a dance area, an open beach area, volcano hot springs, bar, break water area, etc.

    2. Features

    New features on this map:

    • I tried to focuss at small details. Thanks by a new way of working, I can invest more hours efficiently in a map from now.
    • Effects were used to give the feeling of a party area.
    • A huge volcano was created from scratch. Textures were made to simulate ash, and lights to make the crater. This volcano has some hotsprings were players can have fun
    • Some crow nests are placed near the dance area, to allow Game Masters, to watch the entire fun at a high altitude.
    3. Video *watch in HD 1080p*

Please I suggest you to watch the video. This map comes with animation or effects that you can't see on SS.

  3. No need to ask that if there is already this tool.

Regarding asking borf for it, I doubt that since is more a client side thing than the map itself. However is possible to call the clouds as effects in maps, although, the altitude is restricted or hardcoded to: the client or something I ignore.

I hope this somehow can be manipulated to be used to a desired altitude at the time a custom map is created, consequently, by browedit 2.0 effects edition, in case this relies at this.

  4. Revision 241 added.

    Development highlights:

    • Model windows rendering done and working (partially, gives a crash at some models)
    • Model windows placement at the map works
    • Background to all the map editor (only gradient for now)
    • New Blib version (a rendered by borf)
    • Added readme (please read to check key shortcuts)
    • Glitch at the scrolling window in texture edit mode is fixed
    • Model properties window is working (although from previous releases, I forgot to mention it before)

    All development credits to Borf.

  5. That doesn't helps anything imo. Even worse, it closes the communication definitely of the users to him, I would say, its better to have at least, that possible contact still open upon request of members.

  6. The point of the series would be to become a better mapper, and not just make maps that are "good enough." For this reason, I'll also be focusing on teaching how to become a better mapper without using custom models or textures, as I believe they make mapping too easy and everyone should learn good design before they start exploring that stuff.

I feel like I have a totally contrary opinion with the -easy- part. :P I accept that keeping on the line of using only RO models to recreate areas requires creativity and vision; however, you can't afirm that using custom models or textures makes the work easier just like that.

Making maps by only using browedit, requires to learn only one software. Now, If you include the custom models and textures part, then, everything changes. An extense diversification of other kind of tools becomes necessary to master and give a use... tools like : illustrator, maya, photoshop, or even maths. This is way far of saying its easier; even so, at the creativity part I mentioned, which is still a requirement at the way how you can handle and give a use to those mentioned tools.

The correct term would be that custom models and textures gives advantage at mapping, but advantage doesn't means is easier. It requires more knoweledge indeed, and a complex one to learn and master.

  7. I find better to learn how to install a server by yourself and hire a real hosting company. These guys are just individuals, with no real terms or disclaimers to keep on the line.

With that being said, I've noticed that a lot of people that offers paid services, tends to show an exagerated "professional" presentation of theirselves. Even so, lying, when they refer as a group and they talk in terms of -plural- (like saying, -we- instead of -me-) I'm sure they could lie to even say, that they run an office of their "professional" business.

I don't find why people has to lie to show a professional service. You can say, they are scamming you already by doing that.

  8. @Truly:

    ""I:/Shared/Games/PC/*/*.grf""

Is this how it looks at  your conf? or you just added like this to show it to us at here? if so, is kinda weird. Probably you have errors by using asterisks.

    @Inzanity

Opening, custom maps is something I believe is not supported yet. *I believe* <-- almost sure.

  9. Save a backup of your map.

Load your map with browedit and go to the map clear tool. Select to remove all the objects and save your map, then, test it.

If there is no crash, your issue is because there is a resource missing at your data.grf
