Mystery Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Does anyone have information about Ragray? As in, are they dead? Are they no longer supporting their client/installer? What's happening? o_O Quote
Diconfrost VaNz Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 i think they're already dead... Quote
Maki Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 I am just assuming, but if we could host it on our own servers (as in we have enough bandwidth etc) should we host it? 2 Quote
Emistry Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 i think it would be good if rAthena capable to host this...coz i have seen alot users / members quite depenable on this Ragray instead of other sites.. i guess it is because Ragray provide the All-In-One Package for download..instead of other site that provide download that separated to alot small part... and Ragray is assume as the most updated as well... O.O Quote
Mirage Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 That All-In-One Pack would be very useful and helpful. I dunno what it consist of, but I could create a "test" version of it after I dl a fully clean version of all the needed items. Unless somebody else is doing it.... Quote
Emistry Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 If i was right.....even though the Ragray providing All-In-One package..but it still have certain features where users able to choose which type of files he need... for example..if a users only Need BGM files..then he only choose BGM files for download...and etc... Mirage Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 So a selectable All-In-One Package installer? Like a MSI .exe Quote
Emistry Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 So a selectable All-In-One Package installer? Like a MSI .exe i guess it work like that as well.. >.< anyway..i am not sure..since my last use of ragray were....1 or 2 years ++ ago.... and i keep 1 Clean KRO with most updated files as my root files...xD if playing another RO / test server..i will copy 1 out before i paste the files inside.. so that i wont mess up with it haha ~ Quote
Aurora Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Having another Ragray-like program would be awesome, but I don't think anyone could make one as good as Ragray. If they could, I'm all for it. As far as it goes for Ragray itself, the only issue with it was that the patcher could no longer sync with the kRO and kRO-RE patchers (something was put in, as far as I'm aware, that blocked it). Ancyker said that he'd be making an updated version to bypass it, but that was, what... six months ago? They're pretty much dead. 1 Quote
manabeast Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 actualy the installer separate part kro not that hard to install. after install patcher is hard abit because something cannot patcher when they server down xD!. Quote
Fjaan Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 (edited) +1 for bringing ragray alive by rathena. would be very useful At the moment for my players i downloaded the latest kro from rms & patched it then made 2 files of it data.rar & files.rar and uploaded it to my webhost so if someone wants a direct download link i can share it's 1.25 gig data.grf & 300ish mb all the rest of files. (i get about 600 kbps dl speed people in asia get 200 ~ 600 kbps). Edited December 9, 2011 by Fjaan Quote
Magnetix Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 imo as long as there will be a project with the same goal as ragray, it would be cool. There might be a reason why the people behind ragray dropped (purposely?) the project. don't you think? Quote

I am just assuming, but if we could host it on our own servers (as in we have enough bandwidth etc) should we host it? This would be really good of you guys to do it. I think everyone would love to have it this way since RagRay dropped.. a lot of servers depended on RagRay for their players to play on the server because not everyone wanted to keep downloading KRO and KRE separately. CalciumKid Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 I can make a new version of Ragray in NSIS in about 15 minutes. I'm up for the cause, but I'm not game to upload the client to you guys in the USA at 30kbps. I'd have to load it to rapidshare then have you load it to a torrent tracker or something. Quote
Arcenciel Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 It'll be great if you can do that. I'm currently using RMS for setting up my files and somehow something is messing my client up. Where do people download the client now anyways considering Ragray is off? Quote
Judas Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 i could probably upload it or find places to mirror off of. I could make an installer also, but I couldn't find out how to do the script via NSIS Quote
Dinze Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 I have a rag_setup111020 in my dropbox. I could give someone a link but promise me to re upload the file somewhere and share it. :3 Quote

A great mirror that allows parallel and resume-able feat would be great for poor users like meh.. Torrent sux since most will be leeching.. Well if someone willingly shares his/her bandwidth that would be great... Quote
BlueskyVPS Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 u need a WEBHOST or VPS? or what? just askin, Quote

There is now a patcher called RSU or something like that the keeps up with it. Quote
Magnetix Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 u need a WEBHOST or VPS? or what? just askin, If this project pushes through, yes it will probably be the best option. A dedicated site would be good as it will be updated frequently. Quote
CalciumKid Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 I'll create a custom, up to date installer in a little. I'll then torrent it to my VPS. Once there, I'll allow people to leech it from my VPS. It'll take a day or two to seed to it. Quote

CalciumKid Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Every 2/3 months. Youre more than capable of running the updaters otherwise. Posted from my iPhone 4S Quote
