Hello how are you?
I am new to Rathena, but I have already moved with the cronus which is similar, but I may be commenting on some error, I modified all 127.0.0.1 of the

char_athena.conf,

login_athena.conf,

map_athena.conf

and subnet_athena.conf

files. It worked, I'm using NO-IP, this error appears:

https://images.discordapp.net/.eJwFwdENhCAMANBdGICWaxVwG4IETdQS2vu6uPu993PfebnNHWZDN4D91Cpz92oyS2--i_SrlXGqr3JDMSv1uNtjCh_OIca8rrikwBSZgRAxIKclJiLCFDK0OcWPp7v3D54zIYI.ZzGe3Bt2yFaHez7NZVEVMdJyzGI

But ip 127.0.0.1 works without problem, what is wrong or where did I go wrong?

You dont need to use bind ip.

ok, // in front of bind, correct? But what about subnet? Should I modify it or not?

I think no need to modify the subnet_athena.conf

Just modify those 3 above..

My suggestion.. in the char_athena.conf & map_athena.conf.. try to use 127.0.0.1 first.. which is local hosted... Try to see either all these 3 server can connected or not..

Since u r using public IP.. there is a few possiblities.. either firewall on the modem or not setup port forwarding in the modem setting..

I managed to get the server to be on, but I could not get the client to connect to the IP of the no-ip!

your client or someone elses?

If you trying to connect to your own server using the same computer, then only YOUR clientinfo needs to have 127.0.0.1 for IP.

everyone elses, will need the NO-IP in there clientinfo.

As he said, check the router and make sure the ports are forwarded.

I did what you said, and tried trying to connect to another pc in another connection and it did not work!

Have you double checked your firewall to make sure its not blocking the connection?

Have you port forwarded the correct ports to the server?

I managed to get the server to be on, but I could not get the client to connect to the IP of the no-ip!

so here's the thing.. firstly i don't mean to be rude.. but i really hate when people using exclamation mark.

STOP TALKING ABOUT NOIP STUFF!!! this is not even related with noip!.ur server did connect to the login server..

in ur server setup didn't even using hosting / domain.. it is using public IP.. right now the problem is.. when u using public IP.. login server not won't connect to char server.

that's why earlier i'm asing about either firewall on the modem or not setup port forwarding in the modem setting

since u using 127.0.0.1 no problem encounter, that is within local host.

noip is just to connect the client to the server, which u set in the clientinfo.xml. right now the problem is not even related with the client.. so stop bumbling about noip.!

right now, i have a question. do the server have problem connecting login server, char server & map server when using LAN IP?

in conf/char_athena.conf

Login IP: 192.168.1.xxx (ur computer IP)

Char IP: 192.168.1.xxx (ur computer IP)

--------------------------------------------

in conf/map_athena.conf

char ip: 192.168.1.xxx (ur computer IP)

map ip: 192.168.1.xxx (ur computer IP)

if not connected, perhaps there is firewall on ur laptop blocking the connection to connect the login server to the char server... if connected, so surely the problem is from the firewall / port forwarding in the modem setting..

Hes trying to get the client to connect to the server now.

P.S. Why would you want the login server to talk to the character server threw the router? Or the character server to the Map server threw the router?  Sounds like its just going to jam up the router with unneeded traffic.

Like in the config files.  It tells you which to set local, and which ones to set outside IP

Firewall off, modem ports from 9000 to 9600 open!

I think I'll have to rent a host!  :'(

Try rechecking your client.xml port, any  console errors?

What is the client.exe error while trying to login?

Ps- for testing purposes u can use aruba hosting, they sell 1euro vps with 1gb ram

i don't u open the valid range of port. as in the picture shown that u are using

6900 - login server port

6121 - char server port

5121 - map server port

are u sure u open the correct ports?

Edit:- considering u assigning external ports number not using the the default ports.. do u have try to test to put current public ip in the clientinfo.xml & see either can client connect to the server or not?

To be honest, if you want to make the server public, having a host is a better route to go.  Most home hosted servers are laggy, and most ISP  don't allow any type of hosting (Atleast any that I've dealt with).

In the third party services, there is also a good host, that isn't to expensive.  (I don't want to sound like I'm advertising for them)  But it would be my personal choice if I had to choose for my first time.

-- You should open each port individually, and not a range.

i would agree.. but, i understand a person like him.. especially for initial launching.. as want to setup everything.. perhaps it is best for him by doing own hosting at home.. i've been tried previously on rA.. manage to get home hosted..

back to the problem. yeah.. i agress to open each port individually. for example

internal port (rathena server) - external port (port at modem)

6900 - 6900

6121 - 6121

5121 - 5121

by assigning this way should be no problem... but, it depend.. some ISP won't allow port forwarding.. if already assigning each port individually, but still can manage to connect to respective server.. there is no doubt that the ISP won't allow port forwarding..

I checked here, yes, released! And the error continues, will be the no-ip? I've heard that it has not been working properly since 2014.

I'm not the only one with this problem, here in my country's forums they complain about no-ip since 2014, and they say it only works if you pay!

PS: HEXED 2015

did you try going to run>cmd and typing ipconfig? you just find your internet source (say, if you use an ethernet to connect to your router, you would look under "Ethernet" and use the IPv4 address, if you use a wireless card, you would pick that instead) and put that in the the correct IP part.

So in the Char conf, try this:

// Login Server IP
// The character server connects to the login server using this IP address.
// NOTE: This is useful when you are running behind a firewall or are on
// a machine with multiple interfaces.
login_ip: 127.0.0.1

// Character Server IP
// The IP address which clients will use to connect.
// Set this to what your server's public IP address is.
char_ip: (ipconfig IPv4)

In Map conf, try this:

// Character Server IP
// The map server connects to the character server using this IP address.
// NOTE: This is useful when you are running behind a firewall or are on
// a machine with multiple interfaces.
char_ip: 127.0.0.1

// Map Server IP
// The IP address which clients will use to connect.
// Set this to what your server's public IP address is.
map_ip: (ipconfig IPv4)

And then in Subnet conf (which I don't have TOO much experience in, but I have run into issues here before) try this

subnet: 255.0.0.0:IPv4:IPv4
	^
sometimes this is 255.255.255.0 instead of just ONE 255.

and then just try running it and see what comes of it :D

I am not support or anything, I just have the feels for you, I have run into stupid non-connecting servers and my fair share of socket errors in my time and I HOPE this works for you.

Good luck :D

P.S. I know I have left some addresses at 127.0.0.1, I do this because those are for the servers to connect to eachother, and on my offline server they do that PERFECT with that IP, so I am just ASSUMING it will work with putting the server online because they are on the same machine. I may be wrong, I do not know xD
