New Setup.exe Issue

I'm having some issues with using the new setup.exe from RO.

When my client is diffed with (Read Data Folder First), the setup.exe aint working at all.

Which means... all settings do not take any effect, the client always starts with 640x480 etc... simply with the default settings.

If that diff isn't active, the setup.exe is working just fine.

But i want to read the data folder first.

Do you guys know any solution for this rather stupid problem?

More details after some testing:

The setup.exe saves all settings correctly into SaveData/OptionInfo.lua

But as soon as you start the client, the SaveData/Optioninfo.lua gets resetted (the major settings are simply removed)

I've also tried to make the OptionInfo.lua overwrite secure, but the client simply ignores then all it's settings...

Both are "not" working.

It seems like the issue is related to the client, not the setup.exe

Is no one out there who knows this issue and knows how to fix it?

you have to use a bat file to read dat first priority. If not stick with GRF from data.ini and dont diff with read data folder first or load lua before lub

btw i use 2011-11-16aRagexeRE. i try with not reading data folder first nor load lua before lub and still got same problem. I don't understand what you mean to use a bat file to read dat first priority could you explain?

and what exacly the setup.exe doing or change to the ragnarok folder?

to read from data folder you have to make a .bat file with notepad

start 2012-04-10aRagexeRE_J.exe.patched 1sak1 /account:sci.xml

replace "2012-04-10aRagexeRE_J.exe.patched" with your clientname, and change clientinfo.xml in the data folder to sci.xml

about the setup, make sure you delete any reference to setup, and use the one with the blue ghostring and with the settings I told you,

if that doesn't work, I suspect it's a permission error

i've using bat and blue ghostring setup and still not work. what do you mean "delete any reference to setup" and "Permission Error" ?

And for more information, i delete setup.exe, and still can run the client. it seems the setup didn't need anymore,,,

i don't see how a bat file could possibly help in this situation.

diff the file without read data folder first and that will fix the screen size after you use setup.exe of course thats the only way to fix it just use multi grf and put everything in grf's.

I always use enable multiple grf. I have try uncheck the read data folder first and pack everything to grf, still not work with old setup or blue ghostring setup.

You are FORCED to use the new setup.exe in case of using a newer client.

And i know that it works with the read data folder first disabled, i wrote everything down in the posts above.

But that's not really a "fix", because i WANT to use the "read data folder first" diff.

That's the point about the whole topic...

There's an issue with certain range of clients (those before 'savedata' update), that read the settings from the old location and save them to the new one or the other way around. You might want to try changing "data\lua files\optioninfo\optioninfo_f.lub" and use the setup that was current at the time the client was released. Lua-Opensetup only supports savedata location and disregards optioninfo_f for now.

It's working perfectly fine if the diff "read data folder first" is de-activated.

The client saves and reads the setup configs from the savedata folder.

Also, i've tested using the official old and new setup.exe

Including all your older and newer setup.exe versions.

Or do you still think it's related to what you just said?

Hey mine are working now, with both read data folder first or not. I tried to paste the .dll file where my KRO setup are working to my current ro folder and it's works. You could try it also Everade. But i don't know which specific .dll it is, and need some explanation about that...

I had the same problem ... The solution was to disable Load Lua Before Lub and Read data folder first ... Now my Blue Setup works correctly
