unable to update thor patcher via patch

Question

Posted (edited)

hello all

here the problem,

thor version: 2.6.4.13b

i already set correctly all the setting

PatcherSum=1234235

PatcherPath=newskin.thor

The patcher updating new patcher without fail, but after reaching to completion, the patcher close itself and left out temp.exe(new patcher with new skin) inside RO folder without replacing it to the old patcher, and when running the patcher again, it will start updating again dan close by itself again..

i search around the forum and seem nobody have this problem.

thanks to whoever that reply or try to help me here..

Did you make the added file input "Patch & Game EXE" when generating the thor file?

Also, maybe it would be better to make the new patcher  connected to a new mini.ini file with a new plist.txt. Just an idea that may help.

Personally, I think it would be better if they could make the patcher update feature in plist.txt.

Good luck!

*Edit I have tested that I think you are guys right. The problem is from the edition of this patcher itself.

Any solutions here?

Same problem.

Start Patcher.exe
Patcher.exe realises a new version
Patcher.exe download new version called tmp.exe
Patcher.exe don't close itself
After closing manually and resart > Old Skin
tmp.exe is new Skin + Settings.

Use additional a new main.ini and/or plist.txt want change anything.

Same problem... download patcher.thor file, uncompress in tmp.exe and dont copy over old patcher executable.

Configs are correct and revised

I think so a bug on thor patcher, last version.

Anyone has tested to update the .exe running thor with admin permissions on Windows? Or what version do you recommend to use in production?

Got same problem about this anyone got the solution yet? Maybe there should be something in the config or main that will let you edit what name it should take when placed in the folder? anyone? Bumping this post.

Okay I am a noob here still but I think it's best for some other people who might be needing an answer to actually share what I did.

It seems that this is an event that will normally happen at the very first time that you had the patcher details source edited from main.ini.

if you did not do not the first time and you suddenly realised you had to edit it, then you are bound to get this error.

What I found out is that you gotta let it do its thing. Let it closed the first time and repatch the tmp.exe that will appear from the folder.

once that happens close the tmp.exe patcher and launch your orig patcher. You will notice that the orig patcher now has the new design or whatever changes you did for the new patcher.

I explain things as how my mind thinks it so I'm sorry if I explained it a bit confusing. hope  I helped.
