Question

Posted

Hi I feel like a nub.  A friend and I are trying to start a tiny private server for our friends to fart around on.  We've managed to install the SQL database and launch the three servers and they seem to like to talk to each other.  But when our clients connect (when they connect) we immediately get a packet error and d/c.  So here's what we think we're misunderstanding, because of a huge amount of information from a decade of development:

- How do we determine the packet version of the client we're using, and where all do we need to indicate that?  When to use Renewal and not?  We want as current as possible kRO in as much English as possible.

- What patches are necessary to connect and update to an English client these days and how do we know what patches we need for our specific client?  (Sometimes we get font errors related to stupid or stinky patching.)

Thanks for everyone's help!
