Others can't connect [Failed to connect to server]

Question

Posted

Hi everyone,

So, I've set my server as I wanted, fixed every single bug and now comes the time where my friend want to join me..

The problem is, I send them the files, the clientinfo.xml, but every time they try to connect they receive "Failed to connect to server"
Also, I don't even see that they are trying to connect into the server (On the runserver)

char_athena :

login_ip : IPV4

char_ip : WAN IP

map_athena :

char_ip: IPV4

map_ip: WAN IP

Can't work this out, Thanks in advance.

subnet: 255.255.255.0:WANIP:WANIP
subnet: 255.255.255.0:IPV4:IPV4

And those port are open ;

Hi Enigma,

I suggest you revert the things you have done in subnet_athena. many problems caused by this. (but this will not solve the problem. problem with subnet_athena is encountered when loginserver has detected an incoming connection)

you don't really need to open port 3306 (it's dangerous). Unless you are willing to browse your SQL database through the net, with Query Browser / WorkBench (not PHPMyAdmin or others)

you can check about your ports using this site: http://www.canyouseeme.org

If all of those ports are closed, then you may want to call your ISP.

*don't forget to allow these 3 servers to communicate through personal firewall (e.g AVG Firewall) and Windows Firewall.

Do WAN IP = Public IP?

if not use ISP Public IP not WAN IP

EDIT: also check client clientinfo.xml server address match the Public IP

WAN IP of course is a Public IP.

what do you mean by "if not use ISP Public IP not WAN IP"? are you referring "ISP Public IP" to "dynamic IP"? If so, do not use that IP, use No-IP =.=

*Of course he HAD done it.
