Changing to rAthena ~

Okay okay. I know most of you are going to say or think along the following lines

There's already alot of guides, use search function / google it

I know. I've read practically every guide that was ever mentioned in this rAthena forum. Unfortunately I either do not understand them (slightly) or they don't apply or they are outdated. Thus why I prefer to ask my question here by making a thread instead of referring to multiple guides. It also saves some of my time as I don't need to figure out which is outdated and should/should not be following anymore.

First of all, my situation.

I currently have a RO server which is a joint project with 2 other friends. We decided to rent a VPS. During that time, I had little to almost no knowledge of anything RO related (except game play). Thus we decided to take the offer given to us by the VPS which included server rental, installation of SGCP and eAthena.

After finding out more about RO from rAthena forums (I haven't been able to stop reading this forums for the past 1-2 weeks), I decided to change some stuff regarding our server.

Ok. Here are my questions.

1. I currently have have eAthena Version SVN r696M (Obtained by typing @version ingame). I would like to change this to rAthena. My question is, if I were to install rAthena, do I have to wipe my databases? I'm guessing that the answer will be "No".
   
2. I read that changing from eAthena to rAthena requires changes in the MySQL. Would it be better to delete and re-install my MySQL or just updating it? I'm currently using phpMyAdmin - 2.11.11.3 and MySQL client version: 5.1.61.
   
3. I have SGCP which I found out has bad reception after reading this forums alot. Therefore I would like to use FluxCP-Renewal which was posted by CalciumKid here. It also says that it requires renewal. In this topic, Ryax mentioned about creating a new user in the MySQL. I can't find it. (Perhaps I'm blind ) (Note : Ryax needs to update his images, its all invalid now)
   
4. Does rAthena have renewal mobs that I am able to add while using pre-renewal mechanics?
   

I took more then 2 hours to write this thead. My head is spinning I think I find scripting easier then finding all these info. I actually had a few more questions in mind but by the time I wrote this four down with as much information as possible I forgot them. I'll ask them when I can remember. For now, thanks to anyone who is willing to reply me.

Ah the universe hates us... lol...

Just to be safe, I would download a fresh client. I'm actually doing that right now for an entirely different reason... you don't have any custom data so you won't be missing much.

try to disable the clean url of fluxcp thing

Downloaded the data_v3.0.7z

Used the Shin's Diff Patcher to patch my client following the instructions of Sharpienero

Updated an SQL table which prevented me from logging in (Added the new "robe" table in "char")

Fixed the Client problem.

New problem : Unable to move once I logged in... (I know I read a topic about this somwhere...)

Yea, what Winz said, your MySQL table merger is leaving you inert for a number of reasons - which I have personally never experienced.

From what I can understand, theres 2 missing maps (Najara's Maps, Lunette and Crystilia which I previously put in the eAthena version). It seems like I'm missing the "favourites" table from MySQL tables too. (Fixed the favourite table.)

I noticed this line

Since I can't move, I shut down the client using Alt F4.

I tried relogging again and I'll be kicked out repeatedly with the error message saying "Server recognizes your last login. Please try again after a few minutes. (8)".

However the putty says the amount of characters online is 0. So how am I still logged in?

Nevermind. I fixed it Though I have a funny problem now. I see commonly people complaining that their client is untranslated/korean. Mine says "NO MSG" almost everywhere....... Is this related to the lua/lub files or the data.grf? (I've had this problem since my previous eAthena server)

well, just restart your server using ./athena-start stop and ./athena-start start.. (if it said No such process, do the ./athena-start stop 5 times)

try to remove your char from the group first or try to delete it or create a new one to ensure what the problem is..

Your GM level column in your login table is incorrectly named. rAthena no longer uses the "gm level" and uses groups to determine command ability. That's where the group ID part is coming from.

Also if you can't even type it is because you have the incorrect lua files.

Eh no Winz, it was because I repeatedly edited my post Didn't want to double post.

I'm left with the last problem (I hope) of having alot of "NO MSG" messages in game. I think its caused by missing lua files but not sure which.

Oh, and when deleting a character, it makes the character sit... and a "NO MSG" appears above it so I don't even know whats supposed to happen next

Going to attempt to install FluxCP now.

The NO MSG here is usually caused by out-dated msgstringtable. it should be here somewhere but I'm not sure where it is..

Still deleting the old eAthena files from the VPS... It's been deleting for the past 10minutes.

Btw, I managed to kill it again, I used @job kagerou and got a palette error. Now I can't login again "orz Does Kagerou/Oboro still not work? (Haven't read changelog)

Update : Flux says...

Forgot how I countered this earlier...

My next error...... (Seems endless...)

I'm now getting the infamous "Uh oh, what happened?" error message.

I'm guessing this is most likely caused by missing SQL tables as I have not updated my SQL tables to the rAthena database from my previous eAthena tables. Is there any way I am able to check & update them to the latest tables? I know for sure that I'm missing some tables such as the item_db table.

The NO MSG is from message string table missing and/or invalid. In the new system your character is "posted as delete requested" before being deleted. The default time period before you can delete is 24 hours. Use the lubs in the link I provided and make sure LUA BEFORE LUB is NOT checked.

Edit : I'll test it tomorrow. It's 3am now and I can't login cause my client crashes due to missing Kagerou palette. I'll work on that tomorrow.

Added : Regarding the SQL problem, I don't mind starting from scratch (Meaning deleting and restarting all my SQL tables but I'll need someone to help me with that)

Added 2 : Should I execute all the SQL files starting from when rAthena forked out from eAthena? If yes then when did rAthena start?

* Execute them only to get both your rAthena server and FluxCP working perfectly. you don't need to touch those dbs later. the main ones is the ones that in bold.

ahh, the Uh oh message.

open config/error.php with a text editor and edit:

$showExceptions  =false;

into

$showExceptions  =true;

refresh the page and you will receive the error message.

No, you don't really need to enable the "Use_SQL_db". I don't use it either because I don't create new items frequently. I will turn the server off if I created a new item. you don't need to execute all of them. just execute

I did this and now the CP works.

Current problem : When I register on my FluxCP, I can login the CP on the website but I am unable to login my server.

Hmm I changed the database. Registration works now. But FluxCP can't seem to show our characters. I most certainly have 2 characters made but FluxCP shows this

This account has no characters on MyRO.

I think its some database problem. It's not reading something....

EDIT : I'm using the FluxCP-RE by CalciumKid.

EDiT 2 : I've checked my database and I believe my FluxCP is reading from the database "ragnarok" instead of the database "ragnarokcp". Searching for that line now...

EDIT 3 : Is it possible to change my server so that newly created characters goes to "ragnarokcp" instead of "ragnarok"?

Solved. For reference, change inter_athena.conf.

if you want to send them to ragnarokcp, then the server will not recognize them. they only receive from the ragnarok schema or a schema you assign. unless you edit the scripts to make the registered users appear on both ragnarokcp and ragnarok schema, you sure can do that..

I resorted to changing the inter_athena config to make all accounts and characters made into the ragnarokcp database instead of ragnarok. Was an easier solution for me =/

yeah. it means that you are using the ragnarokcp database now.. the ragnarok database's login table will be abandoned.
