So I've been trying to make a particular map for a while now and every time I get close to finishing, this happens (see test image). I'm not using any lightmaps or anything so I ran a test of just some random texture and a few hedge objects and as you can see, some are oddly shaded dark. That is the center of the map. It happens if I fill the entire map with a texture as well.

I've tried it using various maps in data grf and stripping them as usual or even trying a new map from scratch. Any ideas?

Using BrowEdit Latest version 620 and nothing is custom, only default textures and objects.

Can you post the same view under Browedit ? How did you start a map ? You clear it all first ?

Top camera view and regular view for ya. I've started the map 2 different ways either taking an existing map and clearing it or a map from scratch with File -> New even if the improper way (was trying to rule anything out). but this test is using the proper method and stripping everything from the map, then I saved a copy and did my test on the copy.

That is the global lighting shadow. It will appear every time in the center of your map. Models that are in the borders of the map (or in that area) will not have it.

if you fill with texture the yellow empty areas of your map, your models will gain the global lighting shadow. But it is not possible to cover that shadow in all the models. I've tried that so much times.

If you want to remove it,

In the "ambient lighting window" add a high intensity like: 0.90

Setting it to .9 made all of the objects have the same shading, also changing it to .0 did the same

In global lighting, the default value is 45°

Change it to 180° aside with the 0.90 global lighting, also be sure that it has some colors as: 0.50, 0.50 , 0.50

Try it. I mean, dont expect to remove the global shadow, but it can be diffused.

A really easy way to get rid of it is to simply add a black texture border line (1x1) all around the border line of your map AFTER you calculated lightmaps.

Yea, I'd need it completely removed and seems that wont happen so I'll have to resort to something else from my original idea. Thanks for the help though
