EDIT: Maybe limit the number of images used too. And the whole signature must be 500x300 or whatever dimensions. If I remember back then vBulletin had some settings in forums which will limit the signature and avatars... So, while uploading you get the error and come to know what the constraints are... Signatures... not really--based off of lines/characters I believe. I guess the avatar size can be limited first.
