I would like to know how many items are currently supported by itemdb.txt and how it can be expanded.

if you look at the itemdb.yml format, you will see that there are quite a lot of elements, they are already supported or also unavailable?

item_db is no longer .txt on latest rAthena which supports high id items..

I understand correctly that the new format YML supports large identifiers?

It supports up to 2 billion.
