You can use the command git pull to update your emulator, just remember to compile. About the database, when there's a change in the database structure, you can find the corresponding file in the 'upgrade' subfolder located within the 'sql-files' directory.

Could you elaborate on how the compression works? I would like to try and maybe add some other compression options.
