For me emulators are the same thing, I went there because I worked on client decryption and adaptation.
https://github.com/ROClientSide/Translation
I made several internal scripting and information contributions for Port Malaya, among other private things.
The emulator in which this does not make much difference. In fact I use rAthena, but helping the Hercules community I did it to learn, since I was one of the people who contributed most here, when I was active I tried to make contributions in a row even in DivineRO, I do not like to deliver things that are not complete or unstable .
In his time my contributions were good, as well as the skin I had done, whether loyal to rAthena or not different, an emulator is an emulator you use depending on your preferences and what you are going to do, the truth never got me in that of "which is better" when you always use both.
Of course, I would use Hercules if I was as advanced as rAthena, Hercules has a better optimization and it was he who drew up the idea of the PO, for some comments I made to Ind at that time.
I was one of the first people who tried the Flux multi language system and contributed to the translation of this, forgive my spelling and syntax I do not feel that I should be professional all the time, I am comfortable as I am and do things.
As far as I know, I made some interesting contributions. I was never a moderator here or anyone important and Hercules liked me in his time and I still like him for his optimization he even has fewer errors than rAthena. I'm still trying to support both sides.
Only something I have to tell you, emulators are emulators. Point.
In the end, if you want them to collaborate, you don't have to wear your bows because X person dislikes you.
Just do it and don't leave it, I tried to do all the translation of rAthena alone and almost completely but I lost the files because my hard drive got damaged and I got angry so I didn't do it again.
Do not abandon the project, work privately to make the translations as consistent as possible.
It is better to have a small team that knows how to do the job to get a whole bunch of people who have no idea what to do.
Well, at least I have seen that large collaborative projects always end up like this because everyone is translating the same, without some system.
That is why some kind of gerarchy must be established, and mine was working with only 1 or 2 people.
If you want to check, I was almost the only person who made commits and so it was private until I had 80% but by mistake I didn't upload it.
I love "working" on anything that is translation, I remember that I was even translating the SRC, I am a perfectionist ..

I didn't answer the question again because I wanted to publish it better once I had finished it, but even Ziu can tell you that an emulator is an emulator.
With preferences you will get nothing, it is only a translation.
I like to translate everything, when I say everything, it's everything. The only files I could save were for example the skin in Spanish, I finished it even a msgstringtable for 2014 clients and something ... but it was about a year ago, I stopped translating and I started again just a month ago ...

This is one of the files I saved, I don't know what client version it uses ... maybe it's 2014 06 18, I don't remember
TL; DR:
I went to Hercules along with a friend for matters of decryption of the Luas and adaptation for new clients.
In the end both communities were benefited, even Yommy was there. We help each other to get new content that they now also use in rAthena and it is even implemented in rAthena, I really don't see sides.
PS.- I was never a moderator here.
