Schallmar Islands

Presentation :

It's a new stand-alone, independant and complementary with Arsinoé : Aerie's Tears [Main Topic]. I've made this time a gameplay who is like a Zelda : The WindWaker, oriented single player / small team for some quests.

You must meet the Brittany Compagny in Tantale Island for start the scenario.

This is the first part of the adventure who contains :

- 75 Maps

- 80 New Mobs

- 50 New items

- 20 Quests

You need the map-pack and need to get the svn with scripts and data files. Also avaible BGM pack :

Story :

This is the 8th episode, called Schallmar Islands who takes place in the southern sea of Arsinoé. The adventure begins in the Tantale Island (if you got Arsinoé : Aerie's Tears too, you can choose what compaign vou want), then you can sail threw seas of Schallmar.

The story is an investigation about Grey Magius who is an illegal Society of Arcanes who try to raise Fenrir for the Ragnarök, Shandalar is their Chief.

Gameplay :

So I've tell that I've made something who borrow many aspects of Zelda : The WindWaker. You can sail threw water (Really in the water / No sprite Boat avaible for now) and you get your original form when you are in land. You can direclty trasform yourself in harbors. You got many small islands to explore, quests, collecting items, secret caves, treasure maps, found items in the sea with your boat ...

- Pirates Attacks on the sea and in some towns. (No monsters in normal fields when you are sailing.) When a player is attacked in the sea, he is warped in a special area (boat or under the sea), others players can help me during the attacks and be warped near him. When the fight done, you can return to your initial position. Same princip for attacks in cities.

- Wars between differents Factions of the Games (Only NPC in thoses fictives guilds, players can choose to join some of them for get new quests / treasure / areas). Each factions gets his own abilities, they can help you for hunt pirates, collect treasure, make money, ...

- Dynamics shops with the Current of Arsinoé. Prices depends of the number of avaible quantity. You can also sell / buy quests items into those new shops ;D

- You can rent different kind of boat who will give you differents speed.

- You can found treasures in the sea, they appears like in WindWaker, a yellow circle.

- Collect treasure maps (16 differents).

- Prayers to Goddess for get some bonus (Buffs / Minions / Warp / Raise)

- Custom Stuff over-powered only usable in Schallmar / Arsinoé.

- Humanoïd Monsters :

- Many colours have been added in the text ! For an easier reading. (For sex character / Actions / Item names / Quantity / Monsters / ...)

I love the use of the semi-transparent models, does it look the same in-game?

The curled transparent models look kind of scary. Like a ghostly version of something from one of Tim Burton's movies. o__o (4th image from the bottom)

Those screens are from the game. The result isn't that bad, some "wires"/Bold Lines can appears when approching some models.

By "wires/bold lines" do you mean this?

Bad gfx settings in ro with an ATI card lol..

It's a bit tricky to get rid of them, a combination of administrator and compatability settings.. x__x

Overall though you always have awesome detail in your maps. :)

Not that kind of errors ;D Just talking about models who aren't smooth for make a perfect curve. Like some columns, with habitual textures (opaque ones) it's really looks round but with transparency we can see what's is the real form of models. (Check on screens columns, they aren't really curve.)

And the easy fix for that is to up the poly count a few, eh? ;]

A few more polygons won't slow down or make the file size too large.

Though I have found the game client can be slightly tricky with displaying transparent models correctly (not showing other models through transparency).

It's traduce but french is per default. If you're using Arsinoé, it'll ask you for set the language at the first NPC. In Schallmar alone, you have to speak to "Brittany Compagny" in language menu. In configuration.txt you have to set language for annouces.

Aren't they from BrowEdit? The yellow dot is there xD

Btw, awsome maps. I tried to make one...and I couldn't even put a cactus. It turned out to be an oversized cactus...

It was refering to a special map, Mishna's Temple one ;D

BE views have a lack of light effects but you can took some inhabitual view.

"Humanoïd Monsters" <~ are they meant to be citizen? ._. because MMORPG with citizen= Perfect, like you could feel "this is a town".

I'm downloading your maps! sadly the scripts are in french ;< wish someone would translate it. I'll be extremely "WOW" if you would create a world like in Monster Hunter etc.

Idk why, it just shows gravity errors e_e

There is already some citizen (NPC) but here monsters are looking like at the screen.

The mod is in both language, you have to configure it, check schallmar/configuration.txt. IG for language you have to talk to Brittany Compagny. (Beginning of the adventure at tantale_ile).

For Gravity did you have a client and executable up to mid 2011 ?

Yea I found the configuration.txt and it works, I'm using the latest kRO Episode 14.2 ._. but the executable is an old hexed client.

Fot both mods it tooks me 2 years ;D

You need a recent executable (eartly 2011) for get latest effects or you'll have crash. That's should also happens in official maps ... no ? Like Dicastes02 ?

Ah from this game ! I've made 4 maps from the beginning of Ocarina of Time but textures of N64 are really poor. It'll be surely possible to continue maps with a rip from 3DS's version.

Like the main map of Link to the past, 16 bits maps are really easier to do redo under BE than 3D maps ;D

This is so awesome! :3 definitely, i like them all perhaps, i have some few 'Questions' does this Schallmar Islands, continues with Arsinoe Quest? however i install the 'Schallmar Islands' ONLY but i have Problem occurs in my 'mapserv-sql.exe'. and i think it supposed to have Arsinoe? to have also the Schallmar Islands?

- So, it's another scenario but linked with Arsinoé's one. Arsinoé was the 7th episode, Schallmar the 8th but the story happens in same time (You'll meet some similar boss). So you can play both in the same time. Schallmar's quests are more opened, less linear than Arsinoé's ones. Quests are also differents, I've tried to change modalities of play.

- You can use Schallmar alone but yes it can had an error (cinematique folder maybe ...) It's impossible for me to read your link, can you repost it ?

Thanks for the Respond Aerie, i only want the Schallmar Island to be implement in my server but, i had an ERROR on my mapserver-sql.exe :) for the Schallmar Islands i didn't touch anything, i just INSTALL it. after installing it that's my main problem.
