help for offline server

i am actually trying to setup an offline server on my pc.

 

i am following Judas's bible for doing it. but i am stuck on page 14 of it where it requires to install Visual Studio 2010. i tried installing it from the given links but i am not able to install it. could some 1 please help me out?

you can try another method to compiling.

 

such as, using cygwin or etc...

Which one are you downloading? Download Visual Studio Express Edition . If you are not planning to develop anything else then you can go for the

Visual Studio 2010 C++ Express Edition and yes it is free you just need to take a few mins to register to get the free key.

visual studio is waaaayyy better than Cygwin, one missing library and you can be stuck for days in case of Cygwin, as far as installing visual studio you can visit official site and download the setup from there (2.68GB alert)
