Others can't connect to my SQL server (windows).

Hi,

I own an online pserv and I just compiled my test one on windows, to test scripts, organize events etc..

Everything is OK exect others can't log on the test server. (Failed to connect to server.)

Here is the most of the informations I could provide you :

My friend made a copy of the client in which one he put a clientinfo.xml (with my WAN IP as Ip) I gave him. Client is diffed read data folder first.

I'm using rAsql.

Here are my confs :

char_athena.conf :

login_ip: LAN IP
char_ip: WAN_IP

map_athena.conf :

char_ip: LAN IP
map_ip: WAN_IP

inter_athena.conf :

sql.db_hostname: WAN_IP
char_server_ip: WAN_IP
map_server_ip: WAN_IP
log_db_ip: WAN_IP

subnet_athena.conf :

subnet: 255.0.0.0:127.0.0.1:127.0.0.1
subnet: 255.0.0.0:LAN_IP:LAN_IP
subnet: 255.0.0.0:WAN_IP:WAN_IP

I also configured conf/import folder, it seems to be OK.

Searching about my issue, I found that the cause could be that port are not forwarded, or a firewall on the rooter that blocks connections ... But I don't think it would be the cause in my case.

I'm pretty positive rA SQL will not allow any other connections besides from the local machine.

^This is your issue.

I doubt that you will manage a connection to your server from outside if you don´t have the ports configured.

please make it clearly . ! if it Self hosting or using VPS

Open your port. go to your routers ip and then open your port 6900 6121 and 5121.

check your port if its open. 6900,6121 and 5121

if you're ip is static and you host your server using your computer. try to add microsoft loopback adapter on your pc if you use windows os.

Hi Auryn,

Are you sure you've portforward'ed all 3 ports? It should work if you've done this correctly. Make sure that the LAN IP that you computer is assigned, is the same one as the one you are opening the ports for. Routers may re-assign LAN IP's if you do not have a specific one set up in your internet settings.

sql.db_hostname: WAN_IP

log_db_ip: WAN_IP

By default rAsql listens on the same port as regular MySQL server, ie. 3306, and accepts connections only from localhost.

The server can't communicate with MySQL from WAN you must use a more local address 127.0.0.1 (Loop Back Address)

I did assign ports to my WAN, this is now working, thank you all for your help.

Hey auryn, just a question since you solved your problem, on the mysql workbrench, do you need to place in the Wan ip on hostname? or just leave it default.
