Hello. I'm not sure if this is the correct section, (I was wondering if I would post into the -client section), If I was wrong, just tell me.

One friend has an error that shows bad graphics on a map

The following error:

I know that it has been posted before on this rAthena board (Personally I've seen that topic around here, but dunno where it is or how to search it) If someone can give me the link... I will appreciate it.

Back to the topic, the main problem is that there is a big weird "scratch" across the client window, like if it were a texture stretched, that covers the entire window.

Personally I've encountered with that error before. My case was the same, but I could ride the error by zooming out/in the camara, so the error dissappeared (I've to ask my friend if he can do that, to confirm that is the same case) ,,, what I did, was to format my pc and use Windows XP and the error dissappeared.

After a While I returned to Windows 7, updated my graphic drivers etc. And, suddenly it doesnt appears anymore. But certainly I don't know exactly what to do to solve this error.

So If someone has encountered with this error and can share an idea of how to get rid of it....I will really appreciate it. I'm gonna tell my friend to update his drivers, or maybe to test on another PC/tell a friend to test. But if someone knows exactly how to solve the error, please, let me know.

Thanks!

I think it's a Graphic Card issue i'm not 100% sure though, does it go away when you change the view angles?

I had this same problem also.

I used an ATI HD card, not sure of the number as I no longer have the computer.

I found you get less instances of this error if your computer comes with an integrated gfx card and you set in setup.exe to display from that gfx driver than the card you had installed in the open slot on your motherboard.

You could also try fiddling with the compatibility settings by right clicking the server client and going into it's Properties, Change for all users, Windows XP SP2, Run as Administrator.

And the same thing can apparently happen in guildwars o_O;

This is one of the reasons why I hate ATI cards.. I have always gone with Nvidia until that point, and still prefer Nvidia.. >_>;

yes if it's an ATI/AMD Video Card, well I've been a user of this Brand for almost 5 years on different Models and all I can say is, It's a good video card but has a lot of Compatibility issues with certain games and on what Driver version is being used for that Game (which results to random Restart/Pixelation/Artifacts). what I did before was to try older Drivers and observe.

I found you get less instances of this error if your computer comes with an integrated gfx card and you set in setup.exe to display from that gfx driver than the card you had installed in the open slot on your motherboard.
this is true I'm currently using an Integrated ATI HD4200 Video Card and no problems at all..

nVidia has less problems with compatibility issues with Drivers.

hmm try this: when that glitch appears make an ingame (RO Screenshot) Printscreen then if the image is ok, theres no problem with the Client or the map, it's probably on Hardware part which is the Video Card.
