Custom Client Icon

Is there a way to use a custom icon besides using Resource Hacker? I've never done this with a Renewal client before and I tried it with my client and it crashed. Here are the client and icons. I'm trying to use:

why dont you want to use resource haacker?

Because it didn't work. I use Resource Hacker all the time to replace icons and this is the first time a program crashed because of doing so with ResHacker.

Convert the icon to 8-bit ?

It didn't work because when inserted the client would just crash. I'll try the 8 bit but it doesn't make sense why it worked with sakexe but not RagexeRE.

last time i use 20100803RageexeRE and its work,

but when i use 2011-03-15aRagexeRE i cant change the icon

how about if it because a newer client ?

I believe normal ways of doing it impossible with the newer clients. I've tried every type of icon including the original's settings, used Axialis Icon Workshop/Gimp, no go at all. Makes me sad, I like my way better looking icon. T_T.

Edit: Seems like you can't use a custom icon at all anymore.
