I was wondering, how can a player see if a server is actually running rAthena? Is there anything client-side you can do to check that out?

No disrespect towards any of the servers I recently visited! I am merely curious. :D

I think its not possible unless the mod is not modified and also I think you should ask the server owner.

EDIT:

type error on mod :D

This isn't possible unless it says so in the MOTD yes, or the Admin left the "Show current SVN Version" on.

MOTD??

svn/conf/mod.txt

// Internal default is limited to 128 lines. If you need more, you will need to modify the MOTD_LINE_SIZE definition in pc.c
Welcome to rAthena SVN! Enjoy! Please report any bugs you find.

Also by default the server states what revision the server is running on. Could check on that too.

if you can't memo the brasilis dungeon maps or memo/tele inside brasilis (bra_in01), they are using rathena~

or if its a renewal server, just type @mi for any of the newest mobs #2300+ and if the mob exists they are using rathena~
