HAven't been on rAthena for over a year now.

I have been wondering what the best dedicated server host out there is currently.

I remember using Staminus and Softlayer previously but they had major downtime issues!

And what the best hardware specs i should go with if i want to use Harmony.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hi Ron,

Softlayer is highly reputable now, and is one of the top dedicated server providers out there in the market. If I had to recommend a dedicated server company, it'd be RackSpace; though their servers are quite expensive.

Harmony does not require a lot of CPU/RAM to run; it actually requires very little for the server side, so even a cloud or VPS service can handle an emulator w/ Harmony.

But everyone always complains about lag coming from harmony.

What server from rack space do you recommend I should get? I'm kind of on a budget of 200

Hi Ron,

Almost all the time, that is related to client-lag due to poor client version or due to certain combination of DIFF options they choose for the client. With a budget of $200, go for a cloud server on RackSpace; you can't afford a dedicated with them.

Does it really require specs that cost 200$ or higher for a RO Server? I doubt ill even get higher than 200 players.. thats if i keep it up for a while.

Hi Ron,

No, you don't. To answer your initial question, to run a starter rAthena server w/ Harmony;

At minimal, you should have...

512MB RAM

2 CPU Cores (varies, due to CPU Frequency Speed; but 2 for 2.5ghz+)
