Does it matter what distro of linux you use?

I was going to install linux to create a server, but I've never used Linux before, and I was wondering if anyone could give me any suggestions as to which distro of linux I should get? Mainly using it to build and host my ragnarok server, but until it's complete, I'd be using it to play other games to occupy my time as well (if that makes any difference in choice of distro).

Seems there is no problem with any distro of linux you are going to use. I've used Centos 5 and ubuntu server 12.04 and both runs perfectly.

 

Were you saying that you'd like to play Windows games on Linux? well, i'm not really sure whether the game will run smoothly or not, never done that before.
