Not sure if this has been asked before since i didn't see any similar posts.

Is there any significant advantage in using the sql tables for item_db and mob_db instead of the text files? I am comfortable with using either one so I was wondering how to go forward with it.

Also are there any restrictions on the item ids to be used for equippable items v/s usables and miscellaneous?

The SQL databases are far easier to read and update; you can even edit entrees in-game (example). I still prefer text databases because Notepad opens faster than an SQL browser. xD

There are no ID restrictions except on weapons (to determine view type: Custom_weapons).
