I'm currently using Install Creator Pro to make my installer. It works great for my mini-installer, howerver, if you try to create an installer from files greater than 2gb it fails. Anybody know of an installer that does not have that limitation. My files are 2.4gb and theres nothing I can remove to make it any smaller. Thanks.

You can split it into several .cab files http://nsis.sourcefo...me_Distribution

CalciumKid might be able to point you in the right direction

(the Miruku installer uses multiple .cab files).

Or you can use 7zip. It can make an executeable file plus it compresses the size. Been using that, from 200MB installer it goes down to 50MB :D

Or you can use KGB Archiver to make a self extracting installer and it's able to compress files from 2gb down to 200mbs.

I will give the KGB Archiver a try. Thanks. If it takes it down to 200mb I wonder why they don't use it for the full KRO files.

because higher compression ratio generally means the program is more memory and CPU intensive.

Does that memory and CPU usage affect the actual downloading of the files, or just the initial compression and then installation? Because I would be more than willing to suck up extra CPU usage to not have to spend an extra 10hours downloading seven 200Mb pieces. I understand that some peoples computer won't support so why not have two versions to download? Just a thought. Anyways, I appreciate all the reply with ideas for making an installer!

When you create the installer, compressing the file will probably take more CPU/ram and more time.

When your players run the installer, extracting the files will take longer too (I'm not sure exactly how much longer).

If it too me a half hour to extract it would be better than waiting the additional 10hours to download all the parts. They could just put a note on before downloading that due to high compression and small files size it will take longer to extract than other versions. Fuyuko the only thing I could find to download from the KGB site was the language pack. Maybe I missed over something. Thanks.

Installing that KGB pings on 3 of my 6 virus scan programs as having a trojan after installation. Do you know it it is one or them just acting weird. I guess I'm asking if its from a trustworthy provider? Thanks.

Why don't you just remove the rdata.grf? It's not needed anymore, because mainly everything in there is already in the data.grf.

Having mainly everything can still cause a lot of sprite errors! I will look into that though. Thanks for the reply.
