Client will not function properly

So I keep trying to find a client so I can test my server, but every time I find a client it always is very tiny with a bunch of XXXXX's or it just states error, 2 things come to mind, Ive downloaded another private servers client install and such how can I edit its connection to connect to my own instead, or is there a specific set of files I need for the clients in the downloads I have found all over this forum? Any help would be appreciated.

the connection between client and server i think you are required to edit the clientinfo.xml that located inside the data file / grf file depend on which your client read.

beside...what client you are using..and what error..

make sure your post is informative so that we all can help you.

what error..any screenshot ?
