I triple checked char_conf.txt and map_conf.txt files to make sure info matched what was in MYSQL database and it is all the same. Do I need to use an older version of MYSQL? I am currently on 8.0 Please let me know if you need more info. Thank you. Edited July 8, 2018 by Atomfist

After looking at how the user was created in MySQL I found that the authentication type in 8.0 defaults to caching_sha2_password. With that being said I recreated the user with standard authentication and it worked.
