Hey there, I am not sure if this is the right section, but I will try to ask anyways.

Whenever I am looking for a new server to play on, I usually try to locate the server via information they provide and the time zone they work in.

Well now I wanted to ask you guys, if there is a way to test the ping myself. I usually ping the website via cmd and the ping command, but... is there a way to ping the server directly?

I figured there should be a way, since we connect to a server all the time.

I would really appreciate any help <3! Thank you very much in advance.

Simply check the server's IP and press "Windows Icon" FFDIWil.png + R
Input the server's IP.

You open sclientinfo.xml or clientinfo.xml inside data folder

or extract it from .grf file

In the .xml file, there is the IP or a domain of the server...

You ping that one!

Pinging website is not the best idea as website and RO server could be hosted on different servers...

I like to use webservices as they are somewhat more representitive

like this one http://www.infosniper.net/

but there are actually plenty... find the one you like interface the best.

But beware server location doesn't actually mean anything...

For example, I'm working in North America, but I might host my server in Danmark or something, and do a timezone adjustment on my server's clock to match Eastern time in North america.

just to show finger   B38cFIv.jpg to lawsuits protecting copyrights and their $$$

Thank you very much for your help everyone <3!

I will give it a try with the sclientinfo or clientinfo. Hopefully I will manage to do so. May I come back and ask for help if I have issues?

Are the files usually in the normal data.grf or the custom, server specific one? And which tool are you using to extract that file? I am trying with grf builder but I can't seem to find it x_x...

if the server uses an old client then find the sclientinfo.xml.

data.grf - The official MAIN client stuff that use from our Official server.
i don't think the server put his/her custom stuffs from data.grf. It should be somewhere from the folder. e.g myro.grf \

Tools to extract GRF:

Goodluck!
