[Error] Command "make" doesn't work at all.

Hi guys,
i'm trying to up my server (On the last update of Debian) but when I use: 
make server chmod a+x login-server && chmod a+x char-server && chmod a+x map-server

I have this error:

make: *** No rule to make target 'server'.  Stop.


someone got a tip for that?

Use ./configure first, then you can 'make server'.
