They're free to do what they did for whatever reasons.
Can we just please move on from this?

Yes, there is a fork of a fork and yes, there has been A LOT of things that happened behind the scenes. There is no limitations on who can create a fork and who can't; whatever their reasons may be. But does this really all matter, as long as there is an emulator out there for the community to use? And like Yuki said, it's in the past now. There is no need to waste time in dealing with these things as they've already happened. It is definitely better to focus on the present and the future.
The best that each project can do now is to improve their own project and hope for some collaboration between the two.

I love the bit you said about transparency. I've never seen a server do that.
Best of luck!

Setting up your own test server is easy enough and requires almost no configuration. This suggestion is rejected.

The whole point of being an emulator is making yourself work nearly identically to the official. As it appears right now, rA is not that at all; To me rA seems more like "Here's your custom server suite package, use it to mix and match pre/re and make a completely unique RO server".
Isn't that one of there reasons people play in private servers for? To have a completely unique RO experience, if people wanted the original they'd just play in the officials. iRO is free to play.
No matter how much argument is made about this or how much logical sense there is to it..It's not probable that a majority of the community is going to support it. People like having options.

Not to be a spoil sport but wasn't this already in the suggestions section and wasn't this idea already rejected?
That's what I thought. This was discussed a long time ago and well obviously that didn't happen since well as we still have both up to now.

I thought I was the only one who went "WTF where they thinking" when I saw the new ugly balls. Not sure what changed but I'd like to see the cause/fix for this. xD

I'd like to revive discussion regarding this topic.
I think Lilith's addition is highly beneficial for a lot of servers. It can make balancing a lot of skills a tad bit easier for those that do not actually know how to modify the source.

Perhaps it can be configured similar to the key "log_filter" in conf/log_athena.conf.
For example:
stackable_unique_id: 64 = use unique_id for cards (stackable item)
But always this configuration has to set carefully because of perfomance issues. :-)
Doing it that way may include more items than what certain servers may need. For example, A high rate server with 100% normal card drop rate does not need normal cards to tracked but rather MvP cards only.
-
For the unique item id for stackable items, wouldn't it be possible to create a file in /db/ that defines which stackable items to track so it can be limited to only the important ones such as MVP Cards.

By stable in what terms are you talking about?
If I'm interpreting it right, rA's 3rd jobs are pretty solid.
-
If you mean pay to play, no one is probably gonna play to be honest.

Everyone says that, hahaha. Trust me, you DON'T want to taste that wax. It's super gross because I add a bunch of different things to the wax to get different effects/consistencies. xD
Like what you accidentally typed in #rathena. LOL xD

It seems I have spoken too soon regarding Staff changes....
Cookie has stepped down from Core Dev Manager into Core Dev position due to real life complications and can no longer handle the responsibilities that comes along with the position.
Our staff is currently being polled as to who should replace him. I'll be posting again soon once that's been decided.

Looks like jello shots. Send me some~

Just a heads up!
The forums will be undergoing maintenance on December 22, 2012 around 12 noon GMT -6.
The expected down time is at least one hour. Please join us in IRC while the maintenance takes place.
Thanks!
PS: This will all happen provided the world doesn't end on the 21st.

LMFAO! This is the most hilarious thread I've seen here in rA, mostly it's cause of the avatar but still. DYINGGG

Against it. It should either be in the hands of an administrator who is in the know how or nobody.
Nothing against you Jman but it's just what I feel saver with.
Jman can run his own IRC service if desires to do so. Him suggesting that he -might- make one doesn't not equate to us moving.

Perhaps it has already been completely finalized, but if there is a possibility of someone supporting the cost of the irc server, would it be an option to maintain its use ? If it's possible, I'd like the name of someone I could contact privately regarding the idea.
Thank you for the generous offer but the decision has indeed been finalized.

A lot you may have noticed frequent of Staff Changes the past few days...Hopefully this would be the last slew of changes for quite some time (however we still do have positions that need filling)...
First and foremost, the Development Admin position has been dissolved as it does not serve the purpose it was intended for. Kenpachi has graciously agreed to be moved to the Script/DB Developer group. He will still continue contributing to the project as he had done before but would no longer be holding Administrative responsibilities. rAthena's Development will now be lead jointly by Euphy and Cookie, our Script/DB Dev Manager and Core Dev Manager, respectively.
My promotion to Community Administrator has left the Forum Manager position open however as you may have noticed the past couple of days, it is now a role being filled by Maki. Concerns that you may have regarding the forums can be direct to his inbox, the appropriate forum, or me.
Major decisions concerning rAthena's Community or Development are now strictly made jointly by Administrators and Managers alike.
International Moderator Positions
We would like to welcome OnNplay back as an Indo/Malay Moderator. Helping him with the section is Feistz, someone who have been recommended by OnNplay himself. Lastly, someone probably more familiar to you guys who frequent in our Ragnarok News section, Ziu, has been charged to take care of our Spanish Section. Help us congratulate and wish them luck by posting below!
Other positions mentioned in this topic still remains unoccupied so please send in your applications if you're interested and haven't done so yet.
Community Contributors
The following individuals have been moved to the Community Contributor group: Celsius, Gomen, Shinju, Terces.
Thanks for all the time and efforts you've put into rAthena.
Closing of irc.rathena.org
In the interest of decreasing rAthena's expenses and services to manage, we've come to a decision to permanently close down our IRC server and migrate to Rizon, where we previously were. Our channels will remain as they are so feel free to come over, join us and chat, or just plain idle. Click here
We will officially make the move sometime this Saturday, December 15 2012. A majority of you should not be affected by this but I do I apologize in advance to any individuals or established channels this change may greatly affect.
That is all! Thanks for your continued support and understanding!

rAthena is not the place to ask this type of question. As David had suggested, post in the forums of the server you'd like to play in.
Topic closed.
