Help with rAthena

I recently began to use rAthena instead of eAthena and I noticed there are quite a lot of difference, I thought there are just little changes with rAthena but I was wrong. Anyway, I needed help with some of the basic stuffs like "why is there two more folders in db folder and what does each do and which one should I use? pre-re or re?"

Also, why does at_command.conf looks different? How can I add commands for ppl/GM then?

The pre-re and re folder is for you to choose between renewal setting or pre-renewal, for information of renewal change http://ro.doddlercon.com/wiki/index.php?title=Renewal_Changes

Default setting is Renewal, if you want to change it to pre-renewal you will need to edit your source and recompile, http://rathena.org/board/topic/62198-turn-off-renewal-and-make-it-pre-renewal/

Sir, I tried using my old client and data folder that I used for my server which was an eAthena server. My current server is rAthena, I changed the IP and tried to login but it says "Failed to connect to server". Is it because I need a new client which is compatible for rAthena? or it doesn't matter?

what exe are you using?

and did you changed your client date in the mmo.h and recompiled the server?

did you changed your packet.db to your packver you need?

mostly when you are failed to connect to server , the map server will drops a error msg.

and be sure to diff your exe whith a up to date diff patcher and use the diff SKIP PACKET HEADER
