I do not want to use 'pre-made' hosts like AsuraHosting/SystemInPlace. I purchase the VPS and then what? How does the whole procedure work? Can someone experienced in this field let me know detailed instructions. The server I'm looking to host will be SQL. Which host do you recommend? Surely this is not the first time that this question has been asked. Category:Installation_Guides Setting up a CentOS VPS with rAthena & VNC There are more topics, for Debian and Ubuntu; just use the search function on the forum.

First you need to know what your VPS OS is. Easy: Windows Server 2008 [R2] - Secure like a broken condom [Except you know how to configurate] Hard: Linux (not really matter which) - Secure like a normal condom [basic Linux knowledge neede] Then you look for the right tutorial and to 1:1 whats in the tutorial. There arent many difference at setting up a Server on a Dedicated root. The only difference could be the port forwarding. Google is here your friend and help you faster then you think.
