Ok so I was wondering if I could rename the extensions of rAthena scripts from *.txt to *.asc and for npcs just add that in the scripts_custom.conf as an entry like so: npc: npc/custom/example_npc.asc.

My reasoning behind this is that I use so many txt files that it's detrimental to my work to go searching through each individual txt file to find scripts.

Yes you could do that and it would work.

Script files can have any extension (or none at all), as long as the filename and path in scripts_custom.conf match the actual filename.

So now I guess my understanding is that the server just reads the plaintext from a file and has little to nothing to do with the file extension/
