I've build a custom map and I've also brought it online. Everything works fine besides the fact that not everything is walkable what should be walkable. It only works on certain points eventhough the GAT mode was edited in BrowEdit as "Walkable". I've also tried another custom map which worked perfectly. So what might be the problem?

Try this version and see if your GATs are fixed. Stay away from the File -> New map function. Always use a Gravity map as a map template and work from that.

What I did?
1. Took a Gravity map and cleared it

2. Copied your map to it

3. Applied GATs and lighting

4. Raised water level to -20.

You need to update your mapcache. Very simple way to do this:

1. Download WeeMapcache here in rathena

2. Open your db/mapcache.dat in the tool

3. Add your custom prontera to it.

4. Save the mapcache and restart your server.

I updated my mapcache. I did the following:

1. add "map:maintown" to maps_rathena.conf

2. delete trunk/db/re/mapcache.dat

3. run trunk/mapcache.exe

4. restart server

mapcache.exe told me that maintown was added to mapcache.

The cache isnt the problem, the other custom map worked just fine, and i did exactly the previous steps.

So I've created a custom Map in BrowEdit. Everything seems to work fine besides walking. I can perfectly move left and right but not up an down. Not the whole map is walkable eventhough I've made now the whole Map Walkable in BrowEdit without any mistakes. All the steps to upload a map were followed exactly so that shouldn't be a problem. I created a test map with the size of 10x10 which worked perfectly fine. My map size is 60x80 which doesn't work. I also tried a custom map from rAthena download section which also worked fine. I really don't know what to do anymore to bring it up working  /sob

Try the following and see if it works..

1. Raise water level to -20 (See Windows -> Water)

2. Raise map above the -20 mark (See Global Height Edit Tool)

3. Edit -> Set GAT Height

I've found in the past that walkable areas with map heights depending on the water level causes weird GAT glitches. Assuming you DIDN"T use the NEW MAP function, test this out and see if your walkable areas are now.. well .. walkable in game.

Still doesn't work. I edited the water level to -20 and raised the whole map exactly to the new level. I used File->New at the very beginning, if you meant that.

I am really clueless, maybe you could take a look by yourself, i will upload the map as an attachment. (The map is nowhere near finished, but if we don't get the GATs fixed, I can stop working on it.)

I really hope we get this problem solved.

Things I did to implement the map:

  • add gat, gnd, rsw to server.grf
  • edit resnametable.txt and mapindex.txt
  • edit mapindex.txt and maps_eathena,conf
  • delete map_cache.dat and run mapcache.exe (added grf's to gtf-files.txt ofcourse)
  • start server and log in, warp to map, but i only can walk near the middle.

I tried making the whole map walkable, i could walk trough water and all objects, but the "invisible walls" were still there.

My way of implementing the map works fine, i tested it at a random custom map which I downloaded here.

I have no idea what i should do...

Thank you very much! It's working!

Why cant I create a new map with the File->New function?

Is there any way to edit the dimensions of the map otehrwise? Because the map you uploaded is extremly big. Not that's a problem, just for understanding.

Edit: And, btw, how did you copy the map? Did you just rebuild it or is there a function to copy a map to another?

The new map function in BrowEdit hasn't been properly completed in terms of bugs that arise. It's best to avoid it and just use a Gravity map as a template. Just take any Gravity map, clear it, and save it. Then you can begin designing your map.

Unfortunately no. You can't change the dimensions of a map. You have to use what you got.

And, btw, how did you copy the map? Did you just rebuild it or is there a function to copy a map to another?

1. Open 2 maps with BrowEdit so you have 2 instances running.

2. In map 1, go to Editmode -> Global Height Edit

3. Highlight a section in the map and then click "c".

4. A copy menu will pop up. Just keep all the options checked and hit "Ok".

5. You should see an instance of the copied area pop up beside your cursor. Hit the "Tab" button to move to the 2nd map.

6. Left click to paste the copied area on to the map.

Done.
