Questions about Recommended Client & Setup

I'm working off of:

I downloaded the 'Clean RO folder',

Extracted the folder to a new folder named 'RO' in my program files.

Downloaded the diffed client, placed in the 'RO' folder.

Applied the two updates (rsu-kro-rag-lite and renewal-lite)

Downloaded the latest stable LUB, Latest stable data files/grf, copied both to the 'RO' folder.

Now, I'm not sure if I did something wrong, or am doing something wrong,

but when I try to run the diffed client (2012-04-10aRagexeRE_S.exe.patched), a box loads that says 'Ragnarok' at the top, but it never finishes loading, just kind of hangs.

My server is freshly set-up, as of last night (many, many thanks to Brian).

Many of the server websites that I see have a client that you download to connect to their server,

what do I need to do in order to connect to my server?

Is this something that I can configure on the client that I downloaded?

Where do folks get the special clients that seem to be made for their server specifically?

you need server grf , clientinfo.xml , and other renewal data ....just make a grf of these files or put in data folder in ur ro directory if and only if u patched with READ data folder FIRST PATCH.

Do I want to create a grf from the data folder in my RO installation?

What do I need to copy from my server?

Yes you need to create your server's grf. First, edit your clientinfo.xml inside your fresh data folder and put 127.0.0.1 (localhost). After that Open GrfBuilder > New > File name of your own grf > Merge dir > Your fresh data folder...

If you don't have fresh data folder, download CalciumKid's Basic RAthena Client http://rathena.org/board/topic/54190-release-basic-rathena-client/

I started fresh, as I seemed to be having issues.

Starting with a fresh RO file, copied over the LUB and data files.

Ran the two patchers,and then:

Edited the clientinfo.xml. I figured since my server isn't hosted on my machine that I should put that IP address instead of localhost/127.0.0.1?

Created a new Grf with GrfBuilder, using the new data file.

Edited data.ini to reflect the new grf.

Attempted to run my client (the diffed client available on the 'recommended client & setup, see prior post for link),

this time, I'm getting music, but the client isn't showing anything.

(In the clientinfo.xml, what should I put for the <registrationweb> setting?

I don't have a site/flux CP setup yet)

I did setup my site with the FluxCP, just need a working client so I can hop on my server. >_>

(Solved) Turned out, the client was working fine.

I run multiple monitors, and the game doesn't handle that well.

Switched it to full screen, it popped up on one of the monitors running as intended.

Elqpal, thanks for the offer, I had gotten a PM from Judas offering to help just before your reply.

And, many thanks to Judas, without him looking it over with me, I'd still be stuck exactly where I was.
