My server is having problems connecting after md5 is enabled. I coverted my passwords over to md5, used fluxcp to test it, works like a charm! When I go and run my SVN I get this lovely message...
[Error]: Can not connect to login-server. [Error]: The server communication passwords (default s1/p1) are probably invalid. [Error]: Also, please make sure your login db has the correct communication username/passwords and the gender of the account is S. [Error]: The communication passwords are set in map_athena.conf and char_athena.conf
What needs to be configured other than login_athena.conf file?
Do I need to configure "//bind_ip: 127.0.0.1" on char_athena, map_athena and login_athena?
Also should I be configuring subnet_athena.conf?
Covert my passwords over just in the database, correct? Leave rathena txt passwords in plaintext?
What am I over looking?
login_athena.conf
// Store passwords as MD5 hashes instead of plaintext ? // NOTE: Will not work with clients that use <passwordencrypt> use_MD5_passwords: yes

Thanks, very nice suggetions! I have yet to have experience with XFCE, LXDE and Fluxbox.
I actually got inspired by one of your videos on YouTube, and I really liked idea of it. I got a ton of ideas from this.
Also, I really don't recommend running environments on a VPS at all really. The key factor of security and memory loss on a low budget server, like we're talking about.

Wow, very nice guide. Should mention something about CHMOD file permissions?
Also you don't need all the MySQL privileges for FluxCP.
GRANT SELECT,INSERT,UPDATE,DELETE,CREATE,ALTER,DROP,CREATE TEMPORARY TABLES ON `rathena4444_rag`.* TO 'rathena4444'@'127.0.0.1';

Just digging up old threads. I found this guide to be helpful and resolved my issue.

You have to go in your MySQL database and change the item number to 10.
-
Feel free to post if you run into any problems.

Some things I need:
- What did you name the 'main' and 'log' database
- What is your MySQL User name and password /not root
- Can you go in your 'login' table in your database?
P.S. Does your MySQL User have privileges for your rag db?
- What did you name the 'main' and 'log' database

You might be editing the wrong one. Which version is your server running pre or renew?
-
You must edit your statpoint.txt located in pre-re or re, if I understand correctly...
-
cd ~/rathena
./athena-start start
or
./athena-start stop
-
Can you please provide the error message in a picture or code box?

Do you have a MySQL workstation with the SQL files injected in a database?
-
You have to change the item type equipment location number like mentioned. Are you using SQL or TXT items_db?

ohhh.. wow, I've just known that one..
Hey, it works now! thank you, guys! )
Otherwise, now I am seeing weird characters on some places..
Oh yeah, one more question:
> how can I make wings as costumes?
Please, please one question at a time.
When you see weird characters, it's due to incorrect LUA.
If you need, there are several guides we can point you to for adding customs.

Yeah sounds like it, when you buy stuff it will read from that file, and if you have a missing syntax it will just crash and spit an error.

I tried to make a video on this

Sounds like your msgstringtable is messed up.
-
Make sure your client is reading from GRF or data folder, where your map file is located. Another thing to look out for is your data.ini isn't edited right and your missing files.
-
Something appears to be wrong in your conf files. Try looking over the following files...
- inter_athena.conf
- char_athena.conf
- map_athena.conf
- inter_athena.conf
-
Like was mentioned by Magic-Maker you need to add a switch.
I took the warper from rathena npc folder awhile ago and tried to do this...

Makes sense ^_^V

Don't have the right set of privileges for your MySQL User?
-
Reset your router password.
- Google your router's manufacturer default password
- Pick up your router and flip it over
- Get a tooth pick or something small of that nature, and press and hold the reset button for 10 Mississippi's
- Try logging in as the default user name and password, and set your own.
- Google your router's manufacturer default password
use_MD5_passwords: yes

Yes, I failed and didn't use the MySQL file you guys provided... I used my hand dandy converter which lead to CaSe sENsTiVe erRor.
It's all fixed now, sorry for the panic mode :S

Actually, when a new account is created the hash code is all in caps. It needs to be in lower case to be read by rathena? How can I get around this?
in fluxcp server.php?
Fixed... lols
