  1. Hey all, fairly new here so still learning my way around things. Didn't really change anything here other than the primary conf files to get everything up and running. All seems to work well. Finally managed to get a server up, configured and built from source. Managed to get a client setup with exe dated 2022-04-06. Diffed with recommended settings and some translation stuff from chris. Anyways, can connect to my server fine, world seems populated, etc. But running into two issues: 1) If I leave Izlude and head into Prontera Field, the map is completely empty. If I then move to any other map other than Izlude, but then immediately return to Prontera Field, the map is fully populated with NPCs and monsters, and seems to operate normally. 2) The navigation thing is completely broken if I open it myself. It's empty, can't search for anything at all. If an NPC wants to send me somewhere, the map populates and the arrows appear and sends me on my way. Only when I open it myself is it completely dead. I saw some info around clientinfo.xml and making sure <servertype> is primary, but mine already has that value. I am also currently using the folder method instead of .grf, I saw a very old post mentioning town.lub, which I don't appear to have, but not sure how I could be missing that, if that is even a thing still. Anyways, things are mostly great, and can live without the navigation stuff for now, but the empty map behavior would love to solve. Thank you all, truly amazing project here.
  2. Thank you for that link, very helpful, and thank you for confirming I'm on the right path. Gave Chris' files a try and... well, now I have new errors, which is exciting I guess. It's a bit confusing that he mentions to use a WARP session file to do things, but it's then missing obvious selections like disable game guard and check data folder first. Afterwards it's still not clear what to do with any "grf" stuff. Also after patching ragexe and attempting to run, it's just tons of errors about things missing in Chris' "SystemEN" folder, leading to a bajillion popups and eventually the client crashing. I see that he also has a video tutorial which I haven't checked yet, so that's my next stop when I get some energy back, setting up this game drains you real quick, lol. Anyways, thanks again for the reply and the link, will continue on! EDIT: Yep, followed the video guide and definitely missed the step about copying a bunch of .lua files. Also for whatever reason NEMO generated a good patched exe for me while WARP did not. Afterwards worked my way through the d3d error, apparently putting DX9 is a no-no, went back to 7 and loaded fine. Tried a bunch of other steps here like renaming that .dll to .dll_old but that didn't help. Finally had new account registration with _m/_f turned on but would not let me register account. Finally saw the username I was trying was too short... Looks like I am finally able to launch the client and I can see my machine connecting to server, woohoo! THANK YOU for the link to the translation files, made all the difference.
  3. So I think I've got my server all up and running and happy, but am at a total loss on how to properly set up a basic client. All of the guides I've attempted to follow are just wrong, outdated, or just so poorly written that I cannot follow what they are saying. I have spent hours today (as it sounds like many of you have in the past) trying to figure this out on my own, but I've given up and now coming for help. Here is what I tried, sorry if any of this is a laughable mistake, I am trying to learn! Downloaded an archive labeled "kRO_FullClient_20230404.zip" and extracted that. Inside was a file called "rsu-kro-rag-lite.exe", which some said to run, so I did. It seemed to update happily. Some guides also mention a file called "rsu-kro-renewal-lite.exe", but this appears to be defunct/no longer existing, so I skipped this, not sure. Downloaded a translation archive from "https://github.com/zackdreaver/ROenglishRE", extracted the files into my RO directory, matching file structure. Downloaded an archive labeled "2024-07-27opensetup-lua-3.2.1.651.zip", extracted the .exe inside my main RO folder. Ran it and used it to set up some configuration. Edited "clientinfo.xml" within data folder. Changed language to 1, and changed IP to my server. Not sure of anything else to do in here. Also wasn't sure if this file needed to be copied to main RO directory, but did that just in case. Here's where I am completely lost if I haven't screwed up already. No idea which "ragexe" executable I am supposed to grab. Lots of discussion around this, but no one ever explains how to make an informed decision. For whatever reason, I grabbed "2022-04-06_Ragexe_1648707856.exe" Next I downloaded something called WARP, used it to open the above ragexe, and used the "Recommended" button, applied patches, and it spit out a patched ragexe file. There were some popups here where it was asking me for configuration of certain patches, I accepted the default values for mostly everything. One guide mentioned changing the .lub to .lua, not sure here? I've tried both options. Copied ragexe file to main RO dir. Ran patched ragexe file, instantly errors out about item lua error, then a ItemInfo file Init error, then some error about "RixSquirrel" from a Font folder. So if the above doesn't have you laughing, would definitely love to assistance. I've seen chatter about data.grf and people doing... something(?) with that, but I have no idea. Didn't mess with that at all. Can attach screens of the errors if it helps, but I assume I've just done some blatantly wrong thing that hopefully will be pointed out. Thank you!
