I was curious what the barriers are to alternative DBMS options? Is it purely maintenance, or is there significant tight-coupling with mysql?
Assuming it is more modular and nobody is against adding/maintaining more DBMS modules, I'd be curious what the performance would be using mongodb or postgresql for character saves specifically.
