I've installed Cora, and I'm really, truly impressed.

This CMS is beautiful. The back-end reminds of Wordpress in it's simplicity.

I'm kind of limited on time tonight, but hopefully by this weekend I'll really be able to dive into it and explore all of the features.

I'm working on a new server, so everything is 100% from scratch on my end. Once I get a feel for things, I'll start working on templating it.

Couple of things:

1.)

On your site (you're likely aware, but), the 'User Management', 'Page Management', 'Post Management', 'Navigation', 'Settings', 'Donate & V4P', 'Cash Shop', 'Widgets' pages give a 404 error.

2.)

I did have to modify the .htaccess, as the default setting wasn't correct for my server and resulted in errors.

3.)

Very minor error (typo) on the 'Admin Profile' page.

The 'Change Password' section, third field, it says 'Admin Old Password', when it should be, say, 'Re-Enter New Password', or something of the such, as it's confirming the new password. ;)

Suggestions:

1.)

I'm sure it's likely on  your agenda, but more widget positions (footer, header, etc) are desirable.

2.)

Is it possible for the Server Status widget to also display 'Online Users: #' and 'Peak Users: #'?

Thank you for your review! :D

Sorry about the missing pages, I was going to make them but I took all those out entirely. I was planning on making a video demonstration instead which will be uploaded soon :)

Thank you for reporting about the .htaccess too, as well as the typo in the admin's profile. Those two changes were included in today's revision :D

As for your suggestions, consider them granted!

- Themes with new widget positions such as header and footer widgets will be available soon!

- Server status widget will be updated in the next revision (0.9.2) so that users will have the option to display players online and peak players  /no1

Again, thank you for your review. I will post an update once the next revision is released!

Enjoy the CMS!  /ok

I will try this

Thank you! Please send us a review whenever you can :D ..

Liked on FB.

I have a forum running on /forum/, and I've noticed that the .htaccess for the CORA CMS interferes with the url paths and certain functionality of the forum.

Some times it doesn't, some times it does, but when it does, I get a 'page not found error' from the CMS.

The forum itself has it's own .htaccess, so I'm not really sure why it's grabbing the .htaccess for the main site.

Any ideas how I could alleviate that?

I use XenForo.

I'm going to be looking at it later tonight, I'll post back if I figure out what causes that.

I'm sorry it's taking too long to release the 0.9.2 revision. It's PACKED of fixes and updates. There are 3 more things that I need to work on for this revision, including the .htaccess fix. Hopefully I'll be able to release the revision by wednesday or earlier.

The two .htaccess files seem to conflict with each other.

I think it's because the CMS' .htaccess is first in the hierarchy, so it overrides the forum .htaccess in certain circumstances.

XenForo .htaccess:

#	Mod_security can interfere with uploading of content such as attachments. If you
#	cannot attach files, remove the "#" from the lines below.
#<IfModule mod_security.c>
#	SecFilterEngine Off
#	SecFilterScanPOST Off
#</IfModule>

ErrorDocument 401 default
ErrorDocument 403 default
ErrorDocument 404 default
ErrorDocument 500 default

<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
	RewriteEngine On

	#	If you are having problems with the rewrite rules, remove the "#" from the
	#	line that begins "RewriteBase" below. You will also have to change the path
	#	of the rewrite to reflect the path to your XenForo installation.
	RewriteBase /forum

	#	This line may be needed to enable WebDAV editing with PHP as a CGI.
	#RewriteRule .* - [E=HTTP_AUTHORIZATION:%{HTTP:Authorization}]

	RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
	RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -l [OR]
	RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
	RewriteRule ^.*$ - [NC,L]
	RewriteRule ^(data/|js/|styles/|install/|favicon\.ico|crossdomain\.xml|robots\.txt) - [NC,L]
	RewriteRule ^.*$ index.php [NC,L]
</IfModule>

I tried adding lines to the CMS' .htaccess to exclude the 'forum' subdirectory from it's rules (both by using rewrite rules and rewrite conditions),

but it would then break the forum, because it would completely exclude it from mod_rewrite.

What's happening is during certain situations, namely trying to install addons, during the installation process, I'll get redirected to the CMS 404 error page.

It seems like it only occurs in situation where it's redirecting after a 'submit' button, or something of the such.

Because the .htaccess from the main directory is applied to the main directory and all subdirectories, I'm thinking that the only viable solution is going to be to move the forum to a subdomain. Theoretically, I could put the CMS in a sub-folder of the main directory, and the forum in a separate subfolder, and use a separate .htaccess to handle directing things to their appropriate locations, but it really seems like simply splitting the forum software to a subdomain is the cleanest option available.

Revision 0.9.2 should be finished by tomorrow I'm just furnishing things up getting them ready for upload.

@Talaysen
The revision includes a `potential` fix regarding the .htaccess problem. The thing is I cannot test it due to XF not being a freeware :(

Well... Is it really needed to copy all the grf's into the CORA's folder?

I think it's not too handy for servers who has lots of patches, since the owner should re-upload newest grf again and again.

What if it also accept raw data, I mean the data that's not packed into grf, but it's more like a mirror folder with a same structure with the one inside the grf itself..

Oh and also, maybe there's a configuration to ask if the user has root access or just have the access on the public_html.

So the configuration can be easier, something like:

if ($root_access==1) {
	$system_path = '../system';
	$application_folder = '../application';
	define('APP_PATH', '../application');
} else {
	$system_path = 'system';
	$application_folder = 'application';
	define('APP_PATH', 'application');
}
/ok

Thank you for the suggestions! It does use ROChargen, which I haven't got the chance to experiment much on yet. I don't know for sure if you can use a raw data folder instead of a GRF, but if not, I will try to make a modification to make it happen. Also, great idea for the setup. I haven't realized it's gotten more and more complicated as time goes by.

I will try to squeeze these two suggestions for the next revision if I can. Again, thank you for your suggestions!  :P

May i have a question? are you planning to put this on github? because i think its easier to update it if you put it in there rather download the whole package over and over again if you made an update or bug fix.

@Zell Ah yes, I'm fully aware of that xD .. sorry if I haven't been clear >.< ..

what I meant was if it could read from a data folder rather than GRFs specified in the data.ini  /ok

EDIT

it seems that it can though as quoted by KeyWorld himself. I'm gonna have to try this for myself then.

I'll make sure to include that as an option then :)

By the next revision it should be available as .zip, .tar.gz, and in github :D

My next suggestions are:

  • To use random path as admin login instead of admin/login, just like Word Press.
  • I think you should make a complete folder structure on the guide page, because sometimes it's tricky to understand about the ROChargen + www folder path.
  • The error message on the 'Create Account' should be clearer, like: use upper/lower/numeric and the length allowed, I believe the default one is 6-23 characters, but currently it's using regex, so it'll be hard to tell the exact parameters if the admin changed the regex though..
  • Currently there's no option to check if (username==password), because I know there are some people who are lazy to use different username and password  :) I just don't want the CMS to be blamed if there's account theft in the future.
  • You might want to add an option to change the 'TCP_Controller.php' #115 to item_db_re, since RE user will need to read from there instead of item_db table.
  • Same with above for 'mshop.php' #16, 'mdatabase.php' #25, 'controllers/shop.php' #27,31,43,45,49, 'controllers/dashboard.php' #368,372,384,386,390
  • Adding 'Account/Server Status Inline' widgets throws an error "Message: require_once(application/views/widgets/wid_acc_inline.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory", "Message: require_once(application/views/widgets/wid_ss_inline.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory"
  • Adding multiple same widgets should be prevented.
  • Add support for favicon.ico
  • When I tried to make new pages/post, I was told to login again, although on the upper right side is already said "Welcome, <username>", have tried to enter the username + password but can't login again.

Sorry if I make lots of suggestions  :P

No worries. These suggestions are what helps improve the software, and I actually encourage them :) ..

I believe you are correct with error messages. I'll look to improve all of the error messages to help lessen confusion. Same goes for the username == password check.

Then regarding the database, I actually just read earlier today about renewal servers having separate item_db, so yeah I thought of adding that already  /no1

I think adding favicon is a great idea. I don't know why I hadn't thought of that.  /thx

Regarding the admin login though, I wonder if it is necessary. I did that on purpose because I thought it would be obvious for people and hence easy to access.

I don't mind changing it though if you can provide a good point on why :P

The server inline problem, that might have been caused by the changes I made with generating the widgets lol. I'll get that fix soon enough.

Finally, the new page/post problem actually requires you to login with your regular account aside from your admin because the account ID of your regular account would be used

as the "poster ID". I know it's impractical, but it's also temporary. I wanted to protect the admin information to make sure the username would not be shown in the custom posts/pages.

So right now, I'm planning to make a better admin page which will allow you to: add more admin accounts, customize privileges, and customize profile (admin nickname). By then I will

remove the requirement to login with your regular account to make custom post/page. Sorry if this is a bit annoying on your part, but a little patience and I promise you this'll be worth it :)

Considering these are some good suggestions, I probably will add them on the future but I cannot promise that it'll be included in the next revision as it's already set to be released by this weekend.
So perhaps the one after that? (Which will be started next week). Either way, I do appreciate these suggestions. Keep them coming!  /lv
