Char server keeps disconnecting from Map server

Every once in a while the char server will disconnect from the map server and just constantly keep trying to reconnect. During this time players who are already in game can still play but no one can log in and in game players cant get back to the char select screen. The only way I have found to fix it, is to restart the server.

Does anyone know what is causing this? I really need to fix this.

What is the error with your char-server?

update to latest svn

I updated to r17227 a few days ago and the problem still exists, if I update to r17229 will it fix the problem because the previous update didnt help.

 

 

What is the error with your char-server?

I cannot determine the problem.

That's the thing Im not sure what the error is, that is all that appears in the Map server when it happens. And players cannot access the char select screen when it is happening, it will eventually fix itself by reconnecting but takes 5-10mins sometimes.

Same here my server is configured correctly EVERYTHING working perfectly not a single error and now this! What is going on!?

is it possible this error globally??

because it had not happen and so the server is restarted ... KABOOMM .... connection lost /oops

Look at your login log in sql ans see if evry how many mins it reconnects

Alright so because rathena is back (finally!). I'd like to update this problem slightly:

The server thinks it's being DoSS by the login server and rejects it.

 

Simi-fix:

In conf/packet_athena.conf

 

//----- IP Rules Settings -----

// If IP's are checked when connecting.
// This also enables DDoS protection.
// Default yes
enable_ip_rules: yes

Change enable_ip_rules: no

 

This will disable DoSS protection allowing the char server to reconnect much faster!

 

Why it is disconnecting on localhost is still a mystery.

 

Notes: I really feel like some part of the revision we're using through rA connects back to their servers. Like a status-check or perhaps a kill switch (maybe they're gathering miscellaneous information and it isn't rerouting correctly)? I mean why else would everyone be having this same problem while rAthena just happens to go down... I even went so far to contact my server provider about the problem.

was actually socket.h not socket.c according to Akinari's link. It did not work for me though, I mean I had errors when I compiled

This also happen to my server before but now its gone i dont know what happen, i didnt update my svn too because im using really old rev 16998. hahah. i tried updating to the latest rev but i received a lot of complaint from my players though.

Yes, I've been here looking at my terminal, off and on, for well over 2 hours- No disconnects!

hell yeah! I've done all and didn't get any errors on my local machine. I'll now apply it on the live server *crossing-fingers*
