@Taeko

Thanks for your support. I wish I could have the time to be more active in the Spanish community (since it is my native language) but, truly I can't afford too much time to make this videos in Spanish Too. All I can offer is support, so anyone in divine RO can contact me in my contact forms and I would be glad to assist them in Spanish. Hope I will be helpful!

Volume 2
RSW and GND Maps into FBX

About:

by importing whole Ragnarok Maps
and be able to edit them with the all powerful
3DS Max design tool" ... transform ground shapes,
into complex structures with curves presents for ex.

@kasumi

In my experience I have found this useful for:

  • Taking a ground edition in a Ragnarok map and make a slooping terrain curves between two corners with a same alltitude present. That is not possible in browedit. Then export it as a custom model.
  • Take whole ground areas and transform them into custom models...
  • One day I was commisioned to make an edition of an specific area in a clock tower map, in 3D. To save some time and instead of editing each model one by one, and placing the custom models one by one... I just imported the whole area.

It is quite hard to know what you can do with this beside of what I have mentioned. I guess it is up to you---. I'm only explaining how to do it, people have to think out of the box to take an advantage of the possibilities of these resources. If you invest time with 3DS Max, you will find very useful ways to do 3D, so, now you can apply that knowledge to map areas in ragnarok.

Perhaps, some edits you have ever wondered you can't do in browedit, now you can do in 3DS Max... with the limitation of course that they will be imported as objects, and not as ground.

@Snow

How evil.... :3 so those are your plans!. I demand more cookies now!

Edit: I have to say... that FBX convertion takes us one step forward to custom rsm animation, since "Xarple" (the main autor of this tool) was able to import the rsm animation structures into FBX with this tool he shared to us.

You are right. One day a customer told me to add some -moscovia flowers- into her map, but, the flowers were textures placed in ground edition.

... So with this tool you can cut those terrain areas, and make custom models of those flowers! :P I know, perhaps, it is a bit weird, and there are other simplest ways to make it, but there you have an example.

Also what you said it is true. You can take a bunch of ragnarok flowers or models, and merge it into just 1. So you can save time instead of using -Group Model Edition- in browedit, which it is useful, but it is hard to handle the models in group mode, for example, flip them.

@kasumi

Explain better~ I didn't understand. In my opinion, don't take too much time for this Vol.2 tutorial, unless you know -exactly for what- you will need it. For example, I found this useful at almost several months after I learnt it.

Perhaps you will find more useful some tutorials about Modeling from scratch or modeling edition. Tutorials that I have in my -to do- list.

@java

Good luck!

@Olrox:

I loved your guide, it will come handy.

I would like to ask you to update the main Post if you can, since there's only the the Volume #1 on the main post, and the volume #2 it's on the comment section.

Thanks for the Guide.

@both guys

Thanks, and yes I will edit the thread to be more presentable, I just forget about it. In the todo list, I have to add a glosary, and perhaps change the title of the guide since it is aiming about 3D and more 3D.

@All

Since @xarple added support for RSM to FBX with his lastest tool my first guide about RSM to OBJ, is, hmm, not longer needed, I mean the method with his tool is way better and efficient.

By taking some of my time to test his tool, now I think I'm capable of making a guide of RSM animation. After that guide, then, I'm aiming to add another one about GR2 bones animation...

Yea I have a lot to add here. And no much time. Just be patient guys, great tutorials are coming!

Volume 3
FBX to RSM Animated Models

About:
"Importing and doing your

own animated RSM Models

now it is possible.."

Thanks by @xarple who developed a tool that allows us to import FBX to RSM with animation present, and after sometime debuggin his tool with him, now I added the tutorial about FBX to RSM Animation. Please Take a look at the initial post of this thread to watch the video tutorial.

It is quite easy to know the possibilities in mapping with this.

Note: Sorry about my acent. I'm not a native english speaker. I hope people here will understand. In any case, the video has subtitles aswell.

Great tutorial Olrox! I learned a lot from volume 3 as you've explained everything quite clearly and concisely.

I'm glad to know that it was understandable :D

I think the next tutorial will be about GR2 (granny) animation. It is something I must do; Although this one is gonna be hard, since I'm not good enough with bones animation.

Edit. Seems I should specify in this thread that the tutorials are not -correlative-. That means, it is not a progressive teaching, it is more about a collection of different lessons about new things in maps/3d oriented in Ragnarok Online.

do the rsm converter have any restriction about shape types or limit of parented objects?

i made a multi part animated model but it fail to convert the second piece and forward (some plane shapes and a box). i get a name.fbm folder w/ the texture but no  rsm model, "Wrong occurs!" error.

another question is:

do i really need 3dmax 2013? i ask because i have the indesign 2012 + the 2013.3 plugin and 2013 is a 10gb download also im kinda short in HD space =_='

ediit: sry im w/ a strong flu so im not thinking clearly =_=

Yes you need 3dmax 2013, mostly for the option "import rsm to fbx" because I tested with 2012, and it gave me an error with the texture maps :P.

But if you are going to use only "fbx to rsm", then, you can use 2012.
