hmm so if its just to import RO models to max i guess i'll pass, i feel no need for it atm  /heh

Edit: I'm still trying to figure out why my animated models give me errors...

aside polygons limit and parenting there's anything else that makes browedit crash?

@Saisho

Nothing more, I'm already giving you support in the other thread you did in Graphics Support, (I'm waiting you for some files) please take a look there :P

@everyone

There is a tutorial left about Xarple's tool, that is the RSM to FBX (useful to add animation to RO models, or, edit RO models in 3D). Our issue is, that, Xarple's tool has a bug I already reported him here ---> http://rathena.org/board/topic/77926-tool-rsm-converter-12/?p=184029

I believe this man is really busy and as you can see, he has not appeared yet. However, I have good news: Yesterday I found a way to get ride of the issue mentioned... as easy as just use notepad ++ and do some replacements in a generated file.

This will be really helpful. Because before the only way to fix the issue I'm talking with Xarple's tool, was, by, dissamble the meshes of the model into separate models and apply 1 texture to each part, then, redo all the UVW Maps. This was hard, and time consuming for each model, but with my method, you can do this in seconds.

In the other hand; I've been editing the rAthena Wiki - Modeling, an article that was almost null with no info since years... but I'm on my way of changing this.

So, wait for the next tutorial about RSM to FBX, which will explain my way of fixing the bug I'm mentioning.

Thread updated with a tutorial of GR2 mobs. (custom 3d animated mobs) accordly to this http://rathena.org/board/topic/68884-done-animated-3d-monsters-in-ro/'>project. Also I will change the thread name, like documentation or something like graphic development. (the thing it is for real) for example, this time this tutorial is about adding custom 3d mobs ... nothing to do about maps.

@kasumi

Once I have sometime. Kinda hard what you ask though.

@jushirokun

That was fixed in the lastest version of fbx to rsm that you can get http://rathena.org/board/topic/77926-tool-rsm-converter-14/'>here

All started 2 years ago or 3, That I was doing a map and I looked at the 3ds to rsm browedit plugin. At first, I thought that it was going to be as easy as having a .3ds file and convert it, but, it was much more than that. I had a lot of crashes, bad positions, horrible textures, a headache really but that was the beginning of a very long way. In those years, the information and references about this area in Ragnarok was almost null. Hence  everything has been matter of trying with tests and errors even to this day.

Regarding your inquirie if all of this is self taught, I would say, that yes it is. However, everything has been possible thanks by the fact that I had the chance to work in cooperation with great people that you can see in some of the credits in the topic or videos.

Everything has been self taught until weeks ago that I begun to study a mastery in animation and 3D modeling. Its a long journey, we'll see how everything goes.

Edit: also to everyone that is thankfull for this, please, don't forget that we must be thankfull for that people that developed the tools to make this real.

Nobody can help you. The nif version of RO2 is not developed by the nif extract tool yet.

The one thing I was wondering does the client still have the limitations it had before with number of vertical textures and polygons?  Cause it used to be something like anything over 5000 has texture issues up till 6000 and then anything over 7000 was pretty much a crash so with more complex models you actually had to lower the vertical texture amount and smooth the polygons to something simplistic to avoid it crashing. I would imagine monsters wouldnt be so much the issue since they are usually all 1 texture when they are in 3ds but you mentioned animated rsm's so just curious though like the project since ive been working with models from tera online and im pretty sure i can import some of them as well o-o

Yep the client will always crash with a high polygon model, no matter what date the client is. Regarding multi textures, browedit 3ds to rsm allows to write a rsm file with multiple textures, as long as the original file to convert has the textures as different materials. So there is no issue here for me.

Okay so I followed the guide and I'm having an issue when i use the monster in game the textures look fine and all but none of the animation is working. It does work in the granny viewer when i load the animations in but the game isn't using them and they are named like they should be is there something else thats missing from the guide that helps to associate the animations with the model?

You have done what i wanted for Ragnarok,
BTW does monster models can be converted to fbx files then edit its animation?
How about characters and items? does the collision of models in the map works good?

Nice One :) quiet an artist.
