Ah, I'm using r620. I'll grab that one.

So it's caused by models under the floor, or something?

(My water level was already -20.)

Oh, lovely. I've been hunting through non-translated model packs, while there's been an english translation this whole time. Le-sigh.

-Edit, maybe this was the issue?

I have not the slightest idea how they got down there, but I did notice them missing from the field.

Yeah, turns out all my sprites and a bunch of effects/lights had been dropped below water level somehow , along with the bottom areas of some "ditches"..

Is that a common occurrence when saving a map?

When you raise a map, the effects and lightbulbs dont go up with it. You will need to reset their heights.

No, this happened prior to the fixing of the issue.

This is what CAUSED me to have to fix the issue, see what I mean?

I did not put those sprites under the map, nor did I lower my lights or effects, or raise the map.

I'm asking if that happens very often :D

Its possible if you move accidentally move an object off the map or spawn one in the void. Overall, doesn't happen very often, rarely only.

Hey Syouji! I love your tutorials thus far from what I had seen (not really that far), but they are very helpful, you have no idea! However, I do an issue! On the video: BrowEdit Tutortial #3 PART 1: Intermediate Level Terrain Editing, none of the links that you posted are working, so I can't really do what you are doing in the videos! Could you please re-upload them!?

Thank you so much,

From a future BrowEdit pro!

Edit: I am also having the same problem with Tutorial #5, Tutorial #6, Tutorial #7, and finally Tutorial #8!

All of the links were supported by Mediafire and Mediafire just recently did a clean out with old links and other stuff. I don't believe I have the templates however I'll look to see if I still have them. Thanks for letting me know and I appreciate your feedback. =)

I checked all around my computer directories and was unable to find any of the maps used. All browedit tutorials I stored were deleted once they were moved to Youtube. The maps were also deleted once I had it uploaded to mediafire. I didn't anticipate MF to expire the links so soon.

Alright, I guess I'll just continue to follow the videos without maps. Hopefully I can get a hang of it! Thanks so much!

Thank you SO much. I have tried getting BrowEdit to work years ago and never got so far as being able to run it, much less view maps in it. I'll post a screenshot later. ^_^

Pic

Okay, so I still haven't gotten the hang of shadows (and it doesn't help that I totally forgot to smooth them before taking this screenshot), but I'm just surprised that I got it to work at all right now.

Eventually, I'll have two more castle-themed maps to replace the novice training ground fields.

By the way, I'm able to get to maps like new_1-1, new_2-1, and so on in the game as well as new_zone01, new_zone02... but only the new_zone maps are available when I do "Open from GRF." I wonder how on earth that's possible.

Thanks. I appreciate the feedback and I'm glad you're learning lots about mapping. If you have any video requests let me know. That goes for everyone as I'm always happy to add more topics of BrowEdit to the series.

Something happened while I was editing and now I can't browse in the model select screen like normal. I clicked on the "RO" folder and it disappeared from model select and restarting Browedit didn't fix it.

post-5835-0-68347500-1342585760_thumb.jpg

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Syouji, do you have intentions to do a text-based tutorial? It's really hard to navigate a series of videos for a specific piece of info. Not to mention if you ever wanted to add something, it's a lot harder to go back and put the new information in a video. I'm sure it would automatically become popular if you did make one.

I do have a resource guide being put together but it will take some time before its finished. The issue you're having pops up when you switch between windows in BrowEdit. If you do that it gets all buggy and things dont become responsive. So don't ALT + TAB or switch between different opened programs. If you have BrowEdit opened, only work on that.

So you are familiar with the problem? Because I still haven't found a way to fix it. As in make the missing folders visible again.

I'm not sure about invisible folders put it could have to do with switching between opened programs.

Thanks to Olrox (a very well known and fantastic mapper) teaching me how to use 3ds Max, I will be creating video tutorials on using this piece of software specifically focused on getting and editing models so they are compatible with RO. It is your responsibility to get 3ds Max by whatever means necessary. Autodesk does provide a free trial to the software.

I will not be explaining every part of 3ds Max. You can research on youtube how to use 3ds Max for other things. I will only be focusing on basic model work.

Browedit Tutorial #17 - 3ds Max Modeling [Acquiring Models]

Video Information: A quick video covering several different sites you can get models for free that are supported by 3ds Max.

- Coming Soon

Browedit Tutorial #18 - 3ds Max Modeling [importing/Apply Textures to Model]

Video Information: Using 3ds Max, you will be able to import models supported by 3ds Max, apply textures to them, and UV Unwrap the model to have it ready for RO.

- Coming Soon

Browedit Tutorial #19 - 3ds Max Modeling [Polygon Limit & Splitting Models]

Video Information: RO has limits to how many polygons it can draw per model. This tutorial will explain what those limits are and how to split a model into parts.

- Coming Soon
