Yesterday, one guy contacted me by PM (private message) that, he did a fix of one of my free realeased maps. So I replied him with this line: "Thx if you wanna share the edited one, send it to me to update the topic" This guy replied me, asking me "wtf with your pm?". Why I said?, I checked it, an for my surprise, someone edited MY PRIVATE message. Saying this: As you can see in red, it say "IM AN IDIOT" in caphital letters. Who doesnt knows, that, only one that can lurk into the SQL database, coulda edit private message? this is not possible in the ADMINISTRATOR CONTROL PANEL of IPB ...so... who is this? go ask yourselfs.... All I know it is that, Private Messages, are private. A lot of people ask emails, important informations and such things. So this guy, coulda even change the email of someone that requests a payment in a private message with no doubt.... or something rly heavy as that. This is the inmaturity people we have in a project like this? Who cares, I will leave instantly of this shit. Excuse me, but I dont trust anyone in this project anymore, since there are childish people lurking into the private messages of all of us, and to tell you the truth, I dont feel secure with this. I will post this in eAthena.ws and RMS forums too. People need to know, what is this about. And for the one that did this: Dont waste your time changing back what you did. The only one that can edit private messages are the admin/owner of the forum, that can go into the SQL database of our forum So there is your answer. When I setup IPB six months ago (in May), I made most of the settings imitate the old forums as closely as possibly (the p.l.z. --> I AM AN IDIOT bad word filter included). Also a suggestion, although you're trying to get close to the old boards, I would suggest putting something other than 'I AM AN IDIOT' to avoid confusion like this for further users. (always bugged me) While it may bug you some peoples english is not that great and they end up saying plz and thx, that's just how they type instead of typing out please and thank you. I know a lot of people who's main language is not English and they abbreviate words a lot. Not saying they all do this, cause that's not true. I think everyone in here wants to make a better community and forums, so let's do it properly without offending people. (And I think it'll be better if we do not base some (like word filters) of the things from the old eAthena, it'll be a whole bunch of work but it'll be worth it.) I was just surprised upon receiving Olrox's private message. English is not my primary language, but I'm trying hard to articulate myself. All I am trying to say, is that rather than allowing these types of shorthand words, why not simply "translate" them into the proper format? Again, I would like to re-iterate for the 10% or so, that use this due to a language barrier, that the previous above comment was not directed towards you. So.. if you actually make the attempt to spell out "please" instead of plz, pls and "thanks" instead of thx, it would help you guys.
