I was trying to edit my data.grf of a private server I'm in, I just wanted the "swish" effect on my rogue/stalker dagger weapon, but it does not show the dagger effect at all except when using a Knife[3] or [4]. Every weapon above Knife, shows no "swish" dagger effect when auto attacking.

Here are some troubleshooting I have done:

1.) When I checked the Rogue/Stalker weapon sprites, every dagger has 4 images except the Knife[3][4] which has 8. So I thought, maybe the "swish" effect does not work because all daggers only have 4 sprite images.

2.) Swapped the default/Knife sprite to a dagger sprite above it (Gladius[3]), still doesn't work.

Is there any way to just enable the "swish" dagger effect to all weapon sprites?

Also, I noticed this also happens with Swords, but this is only when using a Rogue/Stalker class. Swordsman/Knight classes all have their respective "swish" sword effect regardless of sword.

It's just too plain-looking without it, and it's making me lazy to play lol.

you have to edit the each of its sprite with swing/swish effect.

Hmmm if that's the case, how come the default dagger sprite (Knife[3] and [4]) does not have the swish effect inside the act file? The swish effect is on a separate ACT and SPR file though. Maybe there's a file that references this ACT and SPR file to each item?

I think the client read those as fix or default. I tried it and it works and I consult some veteran spriters here and thats case of it.

May I know how you included the swish effect to a dagger on a Rogue/Stalker? I have ACT Editor but I'm not sure if I can import an ACT/SPR file to the currently opened ACT file.

you need to manually edit the each frame of the weapon and include that the frame of the slash/swish effect

What tools did you need to do that? ACT editor only? I'll try that out.

ACT Editor = for the act
Photoshop = for the frames

Sadly I don't know how to Photoshop. Is there a way to just reuse the swish effect spr and act file included in the grf?

I have used ACT Editor to include the swish effects to a dagger. For some reason though, it's not working in-game. I saved each and inserted it too in data.grf. Am I missing something?

This is for a Male Rogue using a Gladius[3] (ItemID#1220)

I don't know what I did, but I also changed itemID 1219, saved it using the "Compact" option (redirecting indexes) and it worked. I didn't need to do that layer thing, but maybe it'll be better if I did. I'll look into merging the layers.

EDIT: I have merged the layers, and now it looks a lot better. It's true it only reads the first layer in the game, that's why the last frame of the attack doesn't show the weapon, only the swish effect. Thank you again!

Could you explain the merge layer and the compact save option?

I am using that Program, and I don't find such thing as COMPACT or Redirect Index option.

I'm having problems because I edit my act and is not showing the frames in game.

You have to merge both layers into one. Highlight both layers (ID 0 and 1) and go to Scripts > Generate sprite from selection.

You can then remove the previous layers.
