#182149 Xantara's FluxCP

Posted by Xantara on 23 February 2013 - 07:19 PM

Xantara's FluxCP
Everyone knows of FluxCP. However, with the creation of rAthena, there became a need to support renewal changes and other features such as the new group system. This is where my Control Panel comes in.
Xantara's FluxCP is a free and open source control panel to work with rAthena. Forked from FluxCP by Paradox924X and Byteflux at r1121. I will continually merge updates from the original FluxCP.
Demo: http://web.artistic-...r.com/fluxcp-rA
Note: this site is used to test new functionality and custom addons so it may not always be functioning properly

The original/base FluxCP already comes with a lot of features. Here I will only highlight those that came after the fork. For a full list, click here.

  • Updated Ragnarok Data
  • Full Birthdate Functionality
  • Working GM Group System
  • Mob Skills SQLized
  • Zeny Log Page
  • Specific Item Drop Rates
  • Toggle for Pre-Renewal or Renewal SQL Data
  • Alchemist Ranking
  • Blacksmith Ranking
  • Paginated Item Shop
  • Character/job images (static)

  • Account management system (link one or more in-game accounts to one CP account)

Queued Accepted Suggestions (have suggestions? post them here!)

  • Search in logs page
  • Pin code functionality
  • Character sprites with palettes (would replace static images)

  • Apache webserver with PHP 5.2 or greater
  • PDO extension with MySQL support (http://www.php.net/pdo)
  • PHP GD2 for security images
  • (Optional) Enabled Zip extension for exporting guild emblems
  • (Optional) Apache/mod_rewrite for using the "Clean URLs" feature

There are three ways to get a copy of this Control Panel. For detailed installation instructions, click here (TBD).
1. GIT Clone

git clone https://github.com/missxantara/fluxcp-ra.git

* For Windows, you can take a look at using TortoiseGit with its friendly user interface.

2. SVN Checkout

svn checkout https://github.com/missxantara/fluxcp-ra/trunk/

* For Windows, you can take a look at using TortoiseSVN with its friendly user interface.

3. ZIP Download

Feel free to post any suggestions here. If suitable, they may be polled by general users before being decided to be implemented or not. If you have a feature already coded that you would like to share, please do send a GIT pull request or send me an SVN diff of the work - I'd love to take a look at it!
Please note that working on this open-source project will furthermore serve as a learning opportunity for me. If you find that I've implemented something that could be improved, I urge you to let me know - your knowledge on this subject would be greatly appreciated!

Like my work?

#209299 [Tutorial] How to Create Ragnarok Offline 2013 client [Tutorial]

Posted by cassiel on 10 July 2013 - 01:42 PM

Hello guys!! This is my first time to write a tutorial. ^_^
I hope it can help many beginner that don't know how to create your own ragnarok world. /no1
This server setting is just made to play offline. So if you want to make your own private server there are several things you need to learn more on setting ip, opening ports etc, and i'm not going to explain it in here /sry
Credits goes to:
Nickyzai for kRO client
K3dt for decompiled ragexe
Mleo1 for Loki launcher
Shakto, Yommy, MStream for xDiffPatcher
Michieru, Dastgirpojee for Data folder translation
Magicaltux for Grf Builder

Ai4rei for Open Setup

Okay let's get started, please follow all the steps
This is all the things you need to create your own
ragnarok world:
1. TortoiseSVN - http://tortoisesvn.net/downloads.html
2. Visual Basic - http://www.microsoft...xpress-products
3. MySQL - http://dev.mysql.com...oads/installer/
4. MySQL Workbench 5.2.47 http://dev.mysql.com...ools/workbench/
5. rAthena SVN Repository - https://rathena.svn....vnroot/rathena/
6. kRO client by nickyzai - http://www.nickyzai.com/?p=kro
7. Loki Launcher by mleo1 - http://hercules.ws/b...-loki-launcher/
8. Decompiled ragexe by k3dt - http://k3dt.eu/Ragexe/unpacked/
9. xDiffPatcher v2 - http://www.mediafire...fibc47gzvdshp8o
10. DiffFiles - http://k3dt.eu/Ragexe/unpacked/Diffs/
11. Data folder translation - https://subversion.a...de-translation/
12. Grf Builder - http://www.grfbuilder.com/#download
13. RO Open Setup - http://rathena.org/b...dated-20130702/

After you download all that things, do this:
1. Install tortoise
2. Install visual basic
3. Install MySQL (please remember your root password! If you change it but if you did not change then the default root password is ‘root’)
4. Install MySQL Workbench
5. Install kRO client
After you install all of that, let’s prepare the
1. Open your kRO client and update it until completed.
2. Download your ragexe file in this (http://k3dt.eu/Ragexe/unpacked/) In this tutorial i used 2013-07-03aRagexe.exe
3. Download your xDiffFiles in this (http://k3dt.eu/Ragexe/unpacked/Diffs/)
in this tutorial I used 2013-07-03aRagexe.exe so I must download the same date for Diff files which is “Diff 2013-07-03 v1”
in order the xDiffPatcher to work.
4. Open your xDiffPatcher.exe select your ragexe
file you download before which is I used (2013-07-03aRagexe.exe) and then
select your Diff files which is I used (Diff 2013-07-03 v1) and click LOAD.
Now look in “diff option” there are several choice to
pick, I recommended you to check this option:

- Disable  Ragexe Filename Check
- Disable HShield
- Disable Packet Encryption
- Enable Multiple GRFs
-@ Bug Fix
- Ignore Missing File Error
- Ignore Missing Palette Error
- Increase Headgear ViewID to 5000
- Increase Zoom
- Load ItemInfo.lua before lub
- Read Data Folder First
- Read msgstringtable.txt
- Read questid2display.txt
- Translate Client In English
- Use Normal Guild Brackets
- Use Ragnarok Icon
- eXtract MsgStringTable.txt
- eXtract txt file strings

After you finish check the option click Diff’n’Save!
Move the patched ragexe you made to your kRO client folder

5. Open the loki launcer folder and right-click
loki.ini, change this:

; Must be on same dir of Loki

Exe = "ragexe.exe"

; Must be on same dir of Loki

Exe = "2013-07-03aRagexe_patched.exe" (I
change into 2013-07-03aRagexe_patched.exe because I patched my
2013-07-03aRagexe.exe. if you use another ragexe please changed into yours)

Save it and move all of file in loki launcher folder
into your kRO client folder.

6. Create new folder and name it ‘Data Folder Translation'

right-click on ‘Data Folder Translation’ folder and choose ‘SVN checkout…’
Fill this link https://subversion.a...de-translation/ in “url of repository” and click ok,

this will download your 'data translation folder' from latest revision.  After complete click ok.

Open your data translation folder you download before then open folder “data” right click clientinfo.xml and choose edit.

Edit into your version, I’m changed it into 38 because I used 2013-07-03aRagexe.exe.
You can find your version in folder Server\trunk\db\packet_db.txt

note: If you can’t find clientinfo.xml just open notepad
and copy code below to your notepad and save it as clientinfo.xml

<?xml version="1.0"
encoding="euc-kr" ?>

7. Open your grfbuilder click ‘new’ to create grf, name it to rathena and save it, then choose ‘merge dir’ find your data translation folder
you download before. And then choose the folder ‘data’ inside data translation folder then click Ok. wait after complete. click close. Move
the rathena.grf you’ve made to kRO client folder.

8. Now change all lua extension to lub extension in your data translation folder you've download
place this script in your data translation folder data/luafiles514 folder And run it.
Script Link:

note: rename 'luatolub.bat.txt' into 'luatolub.bat and double click (to run) it.

After you done. Copy the 'data' and 'system' folder inside the data translation foder you've download to your kRO client and replace any same files with that.

9. Edit your DATA.ini in your kRO client folder into this:

Then save it.

note: If you can’t find DATA.ini just open notepad
and copy code up there to your notepad and save it as DATA.ini

10. Extract the 'Open Setup' you've download before and move the 'opensetup.exe' into your kRO client folder

Now your kRO client is ready. /gawi

Now for the Server

1. Create new folder and name it ‘Server’

2. right-click on ‘Server’ folder and choose ‘SVN checkout…’

3. Fill this link (https://rathena.svn....vnroot/rathena/)
in “url of repository” and click ok, this will download your server files from latest
rathena server. After complete click ok.

4. Open Server\trunk\conf then rename ‘import-tmpl’ folder into ‘import’

5. Open Server\trunk\conf  open file ‘char_athena.conf’ with notepad and
look for this:

// Server Communication username and password.
userid: s1 (change ‘s1’ to whatever you want but here I use ‘username’ as userid for tutorial only)
passwd: p1 (change ‘p1’ to whatever you want but here I  used ‘password’ as password)

*note: I suggest you to fill the username and password as I do, to prevent human error, because if you put wrong userid and
passwd the server connection between login and map can’t be establish.

//login_ip: (REMOVE THE ‘//’ IN FRONT OF login_ip: so it will look like this login_ip:

//char_ip: (REMOVE THE ‘//’ IN FRONT OF char_ip: so it will look like this char_ip:

Once you done save it.

6. Still in Server Server\trunk\conf now you open file ‘inter_athena.conf’ with notepad and search for all of this:

sql.db_username: ragnarok (change ‘ragnarok’ into your MySQL username which is I use default ‘root’)
sql.db_password: ragnarok (change ‘ragnarok’ into your MySQL password which is I use default ‘root’)
sql.db_database: ragnarok (change ‘ragnarok’ into ‘rathena’ because later we make database using name ‘rathena’)

char_server_id: ragnarok (change ‘ragnarok’ into ‘root’)
char_server_pw: ragnarok (change ‘ragnarok’ into ‘root’)
char_server_db: ragnarok (change ‘ragnarok’ into ‘rathena’)

map_server_id: ragnarok (change ‘ragnarok’ into ‘root’)
map_server_pw: ragnarok (change ‘ragnarok’ into ‘root’)
map_server_db: ragnarok (change ‘ragnarok’ into ‘rathena’)

log_db_id: ragnarok (change ‘ragnarok’ into ‘root’)
log_db_pw: ragnarok (change ‘ragnarok’ into ‘root’)
log_db_db: ragnarok (THIS ONE YOU CHANGE INTO ‘logs’ because later we make database ‘logs’

Once you’ve done SAVE it.

7. Still in Server Server\trunk\conf now you open file ‘map_athena.conf’ with notepad and search for:

// Interserver communication passwords, set in account.txt (or equiv.)
userid: s1 (Change ‘s1’ into ‘username’ because  as I explain on up there before)
passwd: p1 (Change ‘p1’ into ‘password’ because as I explain on up there before)

// Character Server IP
// The map server connects to the character server using this IP address.
// NOTE: This is useful when you are running behind a firewall or are on
// a machine with multiple interfaces.
//char_ip: (Remove the ‘//’)

// Map Server IP
// The IP address which clients will use to connect.
// Set this to what your server's public IP address is.
//map_ip: (Remove the ‘//’)

Done and Save it.

8. Still in Server Server\trunk\conf now you open file ‘subnet_athena.conf’ with notepad and change this:

you must find your subnet by opening ‘command prompt’
(start menu > all programs> accessories> command prompt)

after you open your command prompt, type this ‘-ipconfig’
it will look like this

9. Open your MySQL Workbench double click on ‘Local instance MySQL’ as in the picture to open. Input your password which is ‘root’
if you haven’t change it on first time you install it.

10. Click on ‘Create new Schema’ just like on the pic below to create new ‘schema’ and name it ‘rathena’ then click ‘apply’ and
then ‘apply’ and ‘finish’. Now close and reopen your MySQL workbench.

11. repeat the step 10 but name the schema as a ‘logs’ then click ‘apply’ and then ‘apply’ and ‘finish’. Now close and reopen your
MySQL Workbench.

12. Enter again to you ‘Local instance MySQL’ just like the step 9 and double click on ‘rathena’ to select it, and then click ‘file’
and choose ‘Open SQL Script’ and go to rAthena\trunk\sql-files and open ‘main.sql’ click OPEN and click the ‘Lightning button’ on picture below. Wait until its done and close your MySQL Workbench and Open it again to refresh.

repeat step 12 but now you 'Open SQL Script’ and go to rAthena\trunk\sql-files open 'logs.sql' click OPEN and click the ‘Lightning button’ on picture below. Wait until its done and close your MySQL Workbench and Open it again to refresh.

13. After you re-open your MySQL Workbench, double click on ‘rathena’ then double click on ‘table’ and find ‘login’ right click on it and choose ‘Select Rows – Limit 1000’ just like the picture below:

14. Change the ‘s1’ and ‘p1’ on the right table to ‘username’ and ‘password’ by double click on each of them and type it. Just like the
picture below, when you done click ‘apply’ then ‘apply’ and ‘finish’

15. Now Open folder Server\trunk\src\common and right-click mmo.h choose edit and search this line

Change it with the date version you choose for your client before

#define PACKETVER 20130703

(My client ragexe is 2013-07-03aRagexe.exe that’s why I write 20130703)
And save it.

15. Now let’s recompile your server, open Server\trunk\ right-click ‘rAthena-10.sln’ open with Microsoft Visual c++

16. Change the ‘debug’ into ‘release’ like the picture below.

17. Block (select) char-server.sql, login-server.sql, map-server.sql, mapcache and then right click and choose ‘build selection’ like in the picture below:

18. Go to your Server\trunk\db and open file ‘packet_db.txt’ with notepad and add this line in bottom

//2013-07-03 Ragexe
packet_ver: 38
// 0x0436,4 CZ_GANGSI_RANK

If you choose another date of your ragexe you can find your ‘packet’ in this link

Just copy and paste it to your ‘packet_db.txt’ like I did.

19. Now you are ready to start your server, open rAthena\trunk and open file ‘runserver-sql.bat’ wait until all server loaded like the pic

20. Now go to your kRO client Folder and open ‘Loki.exe’ in the login screen you can create account by doing this;

In ID you can fill your ID with _M for male and _F for female

And then input your password, After that you may login to your id without _M or _F anymore.

21. Some Screenshoot in the game

I think that's all guys. sorry for any mistake and good luck creating your own Ragnarok World /gawi

don't forget to clik the rep_up_zps4d092215.png button if you found this post useful /rice and thx for reading this bad tutorial /shy

Note: only do this step if you found the problem below.

Problem 1:

setup resolution problem: there is missing file in kRO client\system\lua514\ that file name is optioninfo.lub

you may download from here and put on that folder.

Problem 2:

'queryNavi_Distance_Map' problem: go to Data Folder Translation\Data\luafiles514\lua files\navigation then deleted the file below:

edited :

- adding missing step in client

- adding new file Open Setup from Ai4rei

- adding missing step in server (repeat step 12 but now you 'Open SQL Script’ and go to rAthena\trunk\sql-files open 'logs.sql' click OPEN and click the ‘Lightning button’ on picture below. Wait until its done and close your MySQL Workbench and Open it again to refresh.)

- fixing some step in client about grf builder because if change lua to lub first then merge give error query_navi_map but don't worry now the step are correct.

- adding missing step about downloading 'data translation folder' from repository link

- fix some unclear words and fix the repository link.

- deleted fixcamera angle from patch list because for shift right click issue, and add some note about setup resolution problem

- fix xdiff files link

#170923 GRF: GRF Editor

Posted by Tokei on 10 January 2013 - 06:11 PM

File Name: GRF Editor

File Submitter: Tokei

File Submitted: 10 Jan 2013

File Category: GRF Files

Content Author: Tokeiburu

Hello everyone,

This is a GRF tool I started to develop for my own personnal use, but I thought I'd share it since I've upgraded the UI. I've seen the other similar project (GRF Sharper, seems dead?) that I quite liked, but I preferred to make my own application either way.

How to install

  • Download the zip archive provided from the download link at the bottom of this description or directly from there : http://www.mediafire...aflylbhblrzpz0h
  • Install the application with GRF Editor Installer.exe; if you are missing a .NET Framework you will be prompted to download it.
  • Once you are done, you can start the program from the link on your desktop.
  • An alternative way to install it is to run GRF Editor.exe directly (as long as you have GRF Editor.exe.config in the same folder).

Key features

  • Overall speed is faster (or at least equal) than any GRF tool.
  • Common operations : add, delete, merge, extract, preview, save.
  • Undo and redo for almost any operation.
  • It can open any GRF file.
  • Clean and very interactive interface.
  • Saving formats supported : 0x200, 0x103 and 0x102 (through the Settings page).
  • Instant filter and search options (example : "map .gat").
  • Minimaps generation from GAT files (and editor).
  • File association and context menus integration for .grf, .gpf and .rgz (through the Settings page).
  • Can rebuild separated images into one file easily.
  • Drag and drop (with the ALT key). To add a directory or some files, simply drag it from explorer and drop it where you want in the GRF tree or in the list. You can also move files around from within the application (still with ALT).

  • Sprite editor : a simple sprite editor with powerful features. Semi-transparent images can be added, you can easily change the order or replace images, etc. This tool can convert images in the wrong type by showing you multiple solutions (merging a new palette, dithering the image by using current palette, using the closest color, and a few more). It isn't entirely finished yet, more features will be added.
  • Find errors : detects simple mistakes such as files that shouldn't be placed in there (.svn, thumbs.db), empty files, hidden files, spr or act file that doesn't have its corresponding match, duplicate files and a few more.
  • Validate Grf : reads the entire GRF to detect wrongly compressed files. The files that couldn't be read are shown at the end.
  • Flat maps maker : generates flat maps from .gat and .rsw files. Useful to generate WoE maps or to fasten up the loading time.
  • Patch maker : generates a GRF patch based on two different GRFs.
  • Hash viewer : shows the hash code (both CRC32 and MD5) for files.
  • Image converter : converts an image to any format requested (BMP, PNG, JPG, TGA).
  • GrfCL : used to create batch files (.bat) which can automate tasks on GRF files. See the content in GrfCL.rar in the download for more information. This tool can be customized from the sources as well.
  • Palette recolorer : creates new sprites by changing their colors. I will add some documentation or a tutorial later if necessary.
  • Client database editor : allows modifications of the database client files (txt and lua) with easy and simple tools. Work in progress.

Grf encryption

This feature has been disabled, only decryption is possible.

Technical stuff

  • Requires .Net Framework 3.5 (SP1) Client Profile to run (3.5 or more will work as well).
  • Automatically converts file name encoding to their proper values (you can change the encoding).
  • Data virtualization is used as much as possible to preview files, meaning the files aren't completely loaded.
  • Right-clicking an item will bring up the available options with that file.
  • Preview file formats : txt, log, xml, lua, lub (uses luadec.exe to decompress the files, it may fail), bmp, png, tga, jpp, db, ebm, pal, gnd, rsw, gat, rsm, spr, act, imf, fna and wav.
  • Services are "crash ready", meaning that you will be warned about a failed operation and no work will be lost (the application won't close and crash). It tries to continue operating even if it meets unsual conditions.
  • Operations can be cancelled by clicking on the button near the progress bar.
  • The warning level can be changed to avoid messages like "Please select a folder first."
  • When prompted with an error, use Ctrl-C to copy the current dialog's content.

What it cannot do :

  • It cannot read special encryptions such as the one provided by SecureGRF and it never will.

Some screenshots!

1) Previewing an act file, while showing the search feature
2) Preview of a model file (rsm)
3) Preview of GrfCL with the MakeGrf command
4) Preview of maps
5) Preview of Grf validation
6) Search feature (press Ctrl-F or Ctrl-H to bring up within a text editor)

Sources : http://www.mediafire...7z6hkdag4ayj8rs

Got a feedback? I'd gladly hear you out and fix issues you have with the program. If you want new features to be added, don't hesitate to ask!

#73932 Custom Ragnarok Online Client

Posted by Shinryo on 25 January 2012 - 01:29 PM

I'm currently working on a custom client and wanted to share some screenshots about the progress. Some of you might wonder why there is again another project like this one with the same goal as the others, and why not just join the others to speed up development? In fact, I thought about this opportunity. However, I'm still learning to work with virtual reality and I want to learn as much as possible. And that's why this projects main goal is not to be finished as fast as possible. But still, it looks like I'm at good pace.

I still don't have a "good" name for this project, even though there's a proto-name. One of the other goals of this project is to provide a stable client that runs on both, unix and windows systems.
It is being developed in C/C++ and Ogre3D, takes advantage of multithreading where it is appropriate, uses atlas textures to reduce batch count and some other fancy algorithms to improve performance. Even though the complete terrain is being loaded instantly, it takes some milliseconds to finish the objects. That's why I'm currently working on further algorithms, allowing caching and paging of objects. I will release
a working demo in the style of RagCam as soon as the new algorithms are finished and working.

Here's a list of things that are implemented so far:

GND (Terrain)
  • Lightning
  • Shadowmaps
  • Colormaps (with reduced colors to match the original client)
  • Vertex diffuse color
  • Walls
  • Smooth Normals
RSM (Objects)
  • Smooth Normals (with smooth groups)
  • Animations
  • Transparency
  • Two Sided Triangle Faces (with correct normal vectors for both sides)
RSW (World)
  • Water (with texture and wave animation)
  • Objects
  • Ambient and diffuse lightning
Performance is always a very important part for me. A lot of things are optimized as good as possible. This project will stay closed-source providing plug-in functionality in the future. Most of the information that has been used in this project has been discovered through reverse engineering of the original client. Rendering a map is almost completely done using the same and some improved approaches done by the original client itself. The main focus after this will be the visual improvement of the maps themself, like BumpMapping, Cel Shading support, etc. blah blah. When this is done also, I will focus on implementing network functionality and a GUI.

I have started in november and worked effectively 5-6 weeks on this project. I had to stop at the end of december and started to work again two days ago.

Enough talked, here are some screenshots using OpenGL as renderer (the results in DirectX are the same):

Vertex color mapping:

Each tile can have a diffuse color. This color, however, is not being applied to all four corners of a tile, but only to the bottom left vertex and all vertices that share the same coordinate.
Textures have been disabled in this image to show that diffuse colors are being applied correctly.

Posted Image

The border of a map is also being rendered correctly when vertex diffuse colors are applied.

Posted Image

Some devs are still wondering why their shadowmaps look a bit weird. The reason is plain simple:
A lightmap consists (most of the time) of 8x8 tiles, where only the 7x7 pixels in the center are used. Nothing new. However, the tiles are combined into
a large texture. If texture filtering is being applied, then the borders of the different textures interpolate into each other, fatal for colormaps when they
have different colors. This is called texture bleeding. Because of this, Gravity added a padding of 1 pixel to each tile (resulting in 8x8, instead of 7x7)
and filled them with colors that still look nice when they are interpolated.

The image below shows the correct display of shadowmaps.

Posted Image

They are the same as shadowmaps, but use RGB colors instead. When applied to the terrain, they look smooth. If you look into a dungeon, you will notice
that colormaps are not smooth at all. In fact, they look like the colors were reduced. This process is also called posterization.
The best result are done with 16 levels. The idea is basically to use float colors, multiply them with the amount of levels, convert the result to an integer (and so dropping the decimal part) and divide the result by the amount of levels. Done.

This image displays correct colormaps. Notice the borders of the lightning.

Prontera indoor:

I've used BrowEdit to compare my results and found an issue that was the same as in my project. Some models had wrong depth writing. Using the correct order, it is possible to render objects
regardless of their transparency. You can try to open BrowEdit and compare dicastes01 with this image.

Posted Image

A lot of objects in a map reference the same model, so it makes common sense to combine them for reducing the batch count. This image shows
pretty could FPS, even though all objects of yuno are rendered.

Instancing in prontera:

I would also like to show animations, but am too lazy to upload a video.

I am not generating MipMaps yet, since this will be part 2 of this project. As you can see from the screenshots, rendering itself is almost complete. Only some minor issues that have to be done.
If you want to see a screenshot of a specific map, don't hesitate to ask. I will upload one.

I let you guess which of the posted screenshots are made on linux and which on windows. :P

#122427 eAthena up and other developments -

Posted by Jman on 20 July 2012 - 07:05 PM

Hi all,

The administrators have been aware that eAthena is back. While this is not all too surprising, we feel that it will probably not last long.

Paradox approached the administration team of rAthena and made a proposal to merge a few months ago, only under Paradox's terms which we feel such terms would have been harmful to the community. While not harmful to the physical state of the project, the emotional blow would be huge and something we were not going to put the community through. Paradox somewhat attempted to extort an administrator position in trade with the developers of eAthena and the backups of eAthena that Paradox still possessed. Giving an administrator position to Paradox would not have been ideal given the abandonment issues in the past and the entire reason why we forked the project and formed rAthena in the first place.

So, it seems that Paradox has put his best effort into "reborning" eAthena as he really had no other choice. He either had to be the one to be in charge when the project finally died, or try to save it.

We've heard some things about how eAthena is back and it'll be so awesome and blah blah blah; this might be true, but keep in mind that old habits die hard; where there has been one let down, there will be another. While rAthena has had some issues in the past, we continue to improve everyday, growing upon our skills and providing a stable community where you can voice your opinions and get support however you like.

A couple of points I want to stress, forking off of my post from several months ago:

* The administration team has had some discussions about "sharing staff members". We feel that staff members who wish to go staff on eAthena should feel free to do so if they so desire. We are confident that our staff members and most of our members are loyal to the project enough that they either won't abuse confidentiality in our "private" sections of the forums or "private" staff discussions, or they just won't even visit eAthena period. We are, however, strongly discouraging our developers from working on eAthena, for the reason of the development schedule over here. Being in renewal means a lot of work organizing and getting new content, we do not want to lose potential developer's time working on a project which we feel will dead end eventually.
* Members from rAthena, no matter how popular or unpopular, should not feel discouraged from visiting or posting on eAthena. For the first time in a few years, there is actually a choice as to which emulator you will choose for the English community, and I feel that is fairly awesome.
* Any actions which you take on eAthena are your own responsibility. The administration, staff or developers of rAthena are NOT condoning inappropriate behaviour on eAthena, and will not be held liable for your actions which may get you in trouble. If you choose to visit eAthena, we expect everyone to conduct themselves as they would on rAthena.

We will keep close eye on the developments of eAthena. Keep in mind that rAthena is trying to remain as stable as possible, so make sure you head on over to the bug tracker and report some bugs for us if you encounter any.

Thanks all for your continued support!

#106602 [Free Release] Final Destination PvP Smash Bros Brawl Map

Posted by Olrox on 02 June 2012 - 06:33 PM

Briefing & Concept

It's me again. Oh yes, you read it right, this is a free release... continue reading!

First of all, I must give big thanks to all those members that allways takes their time to rate my work all this time. Really that says a lot for me. I appreciate that very much.

In appreciation today, I will release another free map to you. For your server use, for share with your friends, to add it as a plus on your server... to all you want.

Sincerely I believe that this community is all about Contributing with something. With whatever you can and you can afford. Thats the main reason that I'm sharing this one today.

About the map:

Posted Image

If you have played Super Smash Bros Brawl you will surely know about this stage :)

Final Destination is arguably the simplest stage. It is essentially one flat platform with no extra platforms in mid air and no environmental hazards. It has taken a more rectangular shape than its previous Melee counterpart allowing for a more hi-tech approach graphically.

Final Destination has a unique background in which the Final Destination Stage travels through space. As the battle progresses, the background goes from Space, into a Wormhole, into a Nebula, into darkness and down to flying over an ocean. Near the end of it, the background starts to rotate and before long the process is repeated

About this map
So, what do we have new on this map?
Posted ImagePosted Image

This map is my first one of a new concept I tried by an Idea I had with a RO map long ago. I call this a Panoramic Map and I think you will notice it right away. I added space on this map, but by some camera angles edit and there, and doing some work with textures... I could add the effect of a far distance space area, that I hope you will enjoy.

I recommend this map to be used only for small same matches of 1 vs 1, or 5 vs 5. Use it on your server for pvp tournaments, as a final stage. Or use it for a small GvG team tournament 2 teams of 5 or 7 users per each. Don't waste this map for a common pvp arena, be smart with your server and add it as a plus as a final stage of a tournament for ex.

Anyway the main idea is, that this stage is for versus with the same conditions. That means 1 vs 1 would be epic here.

Video ... watch it in HD 720p!

or click here..
Posted Image

HD Screenshot

Screens are in Full HD resolution. You can allways hit the image thumbnaill to check the images on full size, and check some details that can only be appreciated in HD resolution.

Only 1 Screen Is enough!
Yes onnly 1 screen. Why? because this map is mainly a platform where an epic duel battle can be easily made wihout map obstructions. You can check the space decoration, and the final destination imported model on this one. Please check the video for a better idea of how this map is.

Posted Image

I think that if you have play Smash Bros Brawl, or Melee, or 64 ... you will recognize this stage right away! and I-m sure you have play one of those before! :P

<-- Download link -->

IMPORTANT: Follow INSTRUCTIONS.TXT in your pack for install this map!

Support this release! by posting your feedback here like:

  • A comment is Greatly appreciated.
  • A simple reputation makes me happy
  • *A topic rating is allways a good detail from all :)

On the other hand I must say that I'm allways busy with requests... It was very hard to me to make free time to offer this one for public and for free. So if you have time and you can afford a comment or rating... don't be shy! I will greatly appreciate it.

Stay in tune for the download link. And take a look at the topic frequently to download this one! Thanks again, and good day to all :D

#104005 GNU/GPL Violations in eAMod/rAMod

Posted by Jman on 25 May 2012 - 09:15 AM

Hello all,

It has recently come to our attention that Zephyrus is intending to port rAthena to his eAMod project and dub it 'rAmod'.

Under the terms of the GNU GPL license, he is certainly free to do so, and charge for it. (see: http://www.gnu.org/l...heGPLAllowMoney) As long as the full source code is left as he charges for it, and all credits where due are left intact, he is perfectly legal to sell his modifications, or under the terms of the license, anyone can resell it, not just "authorized resellers". (See: http://www.gnu.org/l...abilityToPublic)

There are a few things that Zephyrus is doing that is against the terms of the GNU GPL license, which are named below. Please keep in mind that rAthena is fully released under the GNU GPL license, as is eAthena and jAthena as well (please see: trunk/LICENSE):

* Releasing the modifications under his own custom license, or requiring users to "license" the software or register its use.
See: http://www.gnu.org/l...odifiedVersions
Section 5 of the GPL license:

5. Conveying Modified Source Versions.

You may convey a work based on the Program, or the modifications to
produce it from the Program, in the form of source code under the
terms of section 4, provided that you also meet all of these conditions:

a) The work must carry prominent notices stating that you modified
it, and giving a relevant date.

B) The work must carry prominent notices stating that it is
released under this License and any conditions added under section
7. This requirement modifies the requirement in section 4 to
"keep intact all notices".

c) You must license the entire work, as a whole, under this
License to anyone who comes into possession of a copy. This
License will therefore apply, along with any applicable section 7
additional terms, to the whole of the work, and all its parts,
regardless of how they are packaged. This License gives no
permission to license the work in any other way, but it does not
invalidate such permission if you have separately received it.

d) If the work has interactive user interfaces, each must display
Appropriate Legal Notices; however, if the Program has interactive
interfaces that do not display Appropriate Legal Notices, your
work need not make them do so.

* Removing the GNU GPL LICENSE file or modifying it from directories of eA/rAMod and the source code files
See: http://www.gnu.org/l...rcePostedPublic

* Prohibiting users of rA/eAMod from redistribution
See: http://www.gnu.org/l...eGPLAllowModNDA

The administration team of rAthena would like to urge its users and community members NOT to purchase rAMod or even eAMod for use with their servers. Supporting the non-compliance of the GNU GPL license is not something that should be done by anyone.

Furthermore, the development team of rAthena will attempt to pursue a formal force of compliance letter to Zephyrus about his software and the use of GNU GPL. You are encouraged to also file a complaint on his forums about the violations.

Thanks all.
