In serious need..

So I used to play this game about 10 years ago and had my own private server for quite a while. It was just me and a few buddies of mine having some fun from time to time. After a while though, we all moved on to various different things. Grew up, had kids, got married, ect. Basically, Life happened. Well I had this itch to come back and replay one of my all time favorite MMOs. I have a linux box hosted in Canada where I run a few game servers off of so I thought it'd be a nice fit for RAthena. Installing RAthena was a little bit of a pain as there really isn't a comprehensive guide out there on how to do it quite correctly (something I mean to try and rectify in the next couple of days).

 

The problem I'm having is this, even though I got the server setup done. I haven't been able to figure out what should be the easiest part of it. At least I remember it being easy in the past. I can't figure out how to get the darndable client. 

 

Heck if I were you, I'd be laughing too. Maybe I'm just way to tired today from running all over the place and not having enough coffee. But it seems like there isn't a place where all of the information is in the one place and all of the downloads are easy to find. I'd like it if someone could write a hand holding guide on how to create a client for the newest up to date trunk of RAthena. I'd greatly appreciate it as I guess I'm just getting old lol.

 

PS I did figure out how to get the files downloaded, (I downloaded Miruku from somewhere and got it updated by double clicking those two exe's.) I just can't figure out where I'm supposed to go from there.

So then, I just download this, drop the data folder in place and then run it and it should work all hunky dory?

Ok that seems to be the case but apparently I'm remembering something slightly different here. I thought you could choose male or female at the character creation screen 0.o

 

I also seem to be having a problem with my panel, it's using md5 hashing and appararently for some reason the server isn't transforming the password input to md5 0.o

Check it's clientinfo.xml to see if md5 feature is enabled or not.

To make a male character, simply use _M after your username when you are registering a new account, or _F if you want female account.

After the registration, you can safely omit the _M/_F from your username when you login to your account.
