How can I patch my encrypted grf and remain it encrypted as I update some files using thor patcher like idnum2descnametable and others. After I try to patch the idnum2descnametable it will become unsecured. So it will be the same as new items to be patched. I try to encrypt first the file to be patched using Secure GRF (Same Password From The Original Encrypted GRF) and extract using grf tool and make it a new patch but it doesn't patch correctly.

As Leinad said here to encrypt patch file first. (But didn't work as this method of patching)

Can someone tell me how to patch in my secured grf and remain it secured after patch?

Thanks in advance.

Simple.

Make a backup of your Un-encrypted GRF and then modify it and then encrypt that; then patch it while still keeping the original

Can you please clear the steps on how to patch on secured grf? I have the original files and i did modification on it. Then what will i do now to patch it and make sure that its still secured when patched to my secured grf?

Thanks in advance

if you patch new files directly into a secured GRF, these files will not be secured.

You have to upload a whole new secured GRF and let them re-download the whole GRF.

Actually you can make secured thor patches. It requires some steps though...!

Make a new grf with only the new files to patch in it. Use SecureGRF and encrypt it. Open that encrypted GRF in GRF Editor (requires at least a 1.6.7ish version), go in File > Save as...  and save it with the .thor extension. Select the "Container options" tab and set the patching mode to "Merge into GRF" and save it again.

It is kinda annoying to go through all these steps, but if you really need to update your secure GRF without sending the whole thing everytime, this is an alternative.

What does secured GRF patching have to do with RCX...? Can you elaborate (or open up a new thread)?

You encrypt the grf (as you probably already did)

If you want to patch it, you create gpf files (same as .grf, just name them .gpf). Then you encrypt those gpf files with the same password as the main grf. Afterwards you put them into your thor patcher (same as a normal thor patch)
